Something like a "COPY TABLE STRUCTURE"?
No, probably because it's not a good practice to spread your data through several small physical tables. Your physical database design should be decoupled from the logical design.

Oh boy... Your DB admin will love that
Just use one table and add a date of entry column. Its soooooo much simpler.

Do you know where I can get modules to print bar codes ?

Look on SourceForge[^]. I saw a barcode thing there recently ("BarCode .NET" or something like that).

How can i use concurrency control using vb.net.I have used sqlcommand,sqlconnection and sqldatareader(No Dataset) to access data from database in my project.And multiple user can access and modify data ,so how can i use lock and cursor to maintain consistency in database.

I will be glad to have a VB.NET code snippet to implement Concurency control when data inserted or updated on the database through command/datareader objects of VB.NET.

I apologize for the brevity of my response -- you can achieve concurrency control using transactions in ADO.NET with the SqlTransaction class (see MSDN[^] for more details).
However, the following two examples might be more specific to the issue you are attempting to resolve:
MSDN Data Concurrency[^]
Data Concurrency Exception Handling[^]

I was wondering where I could find information on automating VB with Excel, outputting data to a spreadsheet. I'm trying to make a punch in and punch out type setup that keeps track of punches on an Excel spread sheet. Any info would be helpful.
Thank you

I created my first web service and accessing it from IE on the local machine works great. But when I try to access from another computer on the network I can see the definitions but cannot execute any of the functions? It says they are only avaiable to the local machine. How do I make it available for any machine?
|
|
|
|
|
Here Is The Answer:
Your problem lies in your machine.config file which will most likely
be in the following directory:
C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\CONFIG
The problem is that .NET 1.1 ships with HttpPost and HttpGet turned
off. look for the following tags:
<webservices>
<protocols>
<add name="HttpSoap1.2">
<add name="HttpSoap">
<add name="HttpPostLocalhost">
<add name="Documentation">
You will notice that HttpPost and HttpGet are commented out. Uncomment
them and it should fix your problem.
Thanks,
Kenton Smeltzer

Hi,
I use Inet control to download a file (HTTP)
in the StateChanged event to get data using : GetChunk
the problem is that i want to display a progress bar so I need to know the total
length of the file .. I use something like this:
<br />
If State = 8 Then<br />
n=val(Inet.GetHeader("Content-length"))<br />
end if<br />
it works but some times i get an error .. should I call GetHeader when the state is 12 not 8?
what is the difference ? I read MSDN but wasn't clear in this point..

This is my Problem:
I have two projects open.
Project #1 is the server App. It loads a list of Dll from a Configuration file.
I load a DLL into my application on startup and can call procedures from it.
I want to be able to have the Server App unload the Dll.
Project #2
I will modify the DLL ,Save it , and then have the Server App reload the Dll and use it.
I can't seem to unload a DLL without closing the Server app.
I have everything else working fine.
Anyone have any ideas?

This is a problem that comes up a lot. The short answer is: you can't. The long answer is that this is managed code - the CLR manages everything for you and there's very little you can do about it. As far as "Project #2" goes, you should look at System.CodeDOM and the System.Reflection.Emit namespaces. Using those you could "easily" read-in a template "DLL", modified it, then emit an assembly either in memory (loaded into the current AppDomain) or in memory AND on disk (thus saving it for future use). Several libraries - even the .NET Framework use this technique for non-persisted assemblies, but persisting it is as simple as using a different Enum value in the very same method!
Good luck!
Reminiscent of my younger years...

Thanks for your assistant.
I will research the namespaces you suggested.
This is my overall project.
I want to create a server app that runs all the time.
I want the server to load plugins and run them on set intervals and on specified events.
I wanted to create the plugins in VS.net and copy the dll to the plugin location.
I also have researched the CodeDom namespace and can actually create the plugins from the Server app and compile/load/Run them but for this to function correctly, I should give the end user the ability to modify the source code of the plugin and recompile/load/run without restarting the server app.
If the System.Reflection.Emit will create dynamic assemblies in memory then this may work better than saving them to a dll and loading them for each use.
This is my attempt at creating an app with scripting embedded in it.
Thanks again for your help
