Never! You're "The One" when it comes to working on PocketPC code, especially the article on multi-toolbars.

Well, a few sleepless nights later (been working on this for a while), I've accomplished nothing. Oh well, maybe it's time to redesign my dialog-app to just use a toolbar (bitmap) button instead of a menu (string) item. Or maybe I should get back to doing my schoolwork instead.
Do you know if it's possible to have a text-only toolbar? ie: load a bitmap toolbar with a single button, then somehow change it from a bitmap to a string?
Thanks! You rule!

Yes, you can do that. If you look into eVC's help file, go to 'Microsoft Windows CE / User Interface Services / Creating Controls / Working with Common Controls'. Read the entries on 'Creating a Command Bar' and 'Creating a ToolBar'. You will see that these controls may accept bitmaps, text, or both.

I think that you may be able to this using the TBSTYLE_LIST .

Seems that nobody could answer my previous post!
Is there somebody here who has worked with ActiveX in embedded visual C++ ? Please, let me know how you do this! (Do I have to register it on the emulation/Pocket PC, and how, ... ??) !!
I go crazy
Thanks!

To register an ActiveX, use regsvrce.exe (look in the target\arm directory of your SDK). You must copy it to the device and then execute it against the ActiveX DLL.

Thanks but it doesn't work neither.
My question will be perhaps a little bit stupid but it's the first time I develop for an embedded device: what I have done is use an ActiveX that was developped for a normal Win32 platform (say for example the MSFlexGrid that is included in Visual studio). I tried to use it on the pocket PC ! Is it possible to do such a thing ?? Sorry if I didn't say it before .
I copied the executable and the ActiveX (.ocx file) to the mobile device and then try to register it but I have an error: isn't a valid Win32 application.
|
|
|
|
|
Oh boy! That can never work! You see, your mobile platform does not have an Intel x86 processor. Most likely, it will be a StrongARM or an Intel PXA250. These processors are not compatible with the desktop x86 couterparts. So, if you want to use an ActiveX control in your mobile (and you can do it), it must be targeted to the device's CPU. You cannot copy a desktop ActiveX DLL or EXE into the mobile and expect it to work...

|
Ooooops, that's right !! I feel a little bit ashamed of such a stupid question !!
In fact, I was thinking of COM portability in means of language, but I didn't think that the processor where completely different... .
Thanks !

Don't be. If you are never wrong, you never learn anything. The stupid thing would be not to ask!

Hello,
I'm using embedded visual C++ 3.0 to develop an application on pocket PC. I use an activeX but when I run the program, the ActiveX is not dipslayed and I have this comments when using the debugger:
CoCreateInstance of OLE control {008BBE7E-C096-11D0-B4E3-00A0C901D681} failed.
>>> Result code: 0x80040154
>>> Is the control is properly registered?
Warning: CreateDlgControls failed during form view init.
So, what do I have to do to register the ActiveX ??
Thanks for help

Hi,
I recently did some SSL programming on Windows and now wonder how to implement S/MIME on WinCE (Pocket PC to be more precise)?
I wonder which API calls are available on WinCE? Unfortunately I did not find a Windows library that is also available on WinCE, are there some other libraries you can recommend to me (free or commercial)?
Basically I want to
1) encrypt/decrypt mail planitext with S/MIME
2) handle X.509 certificates (prolly part of a S/MIME library)
Thanks, Moak

seams like there is nothing available.
Hmm, perhaps openSSL is ported to WinCE (it has some S/MIME support).... I'll have to check that.

Hi People.
I need to implement some Real Time Application for my final thesis (Videoconference over PDA). I've been a couple of weeks looking for RTP libraries that i could use for Windows CE. Is it possible to use RTP on pocket PC's? Does anyone have any idea about where can I find the needed files?
Thanks in advance,

Take a look at PocketTV. Maybe you will find some information about REALTIME video ...

I have to use a bluetooth connection for debugging my application. has anybody figured out how to do that ? i can establish a bluetooth connection between the pda and my computer but activesync refuses to use it.
|
|
|
|
|
Yeah, I've used it to debug. Set active sync up to use your inbound BT virtual com port (active sync connection settings). Next you have to initate a sync from WITHIN your bluetooth manager. On the Widcom stuff you can select "activesync via bluetooth" from the connection wizard screen.
With the Dell/Belkin CF cards you have to discover your PC and set it up as a active sync partner. Then you have to tap "Start ActiveSync" from the BT manager menu.
After you have a ASync connection, set your IDE up to use a real device.

Dear Friends,
Did anybody know how to access the proxy details like (proxy server name proxy server port and etc) from registry or any other way. I want those values dynamically inside my application developed in Embedded VC++ 4.0 for Windows CE IE 5.5.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Subbu,

You have to look in the Providers section of the connection manager tree in the registry. Check the keys under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}
Here, you will see some providers (keys that start with HTTP , null-corp , WAP , etc.). Under these keys, you will find a Proxy value. This value is an SZ and contains the proxy address in the format [address]:[port].

Dear João Paulo Figueira san,
In my Windows CE .NET registry i dont have the key which you have specified, But i can able to access internet and browse the sites.
As per our understanding it is connected to Wireless LAN.
Is there any solution in this type of cases.

Sorry! I did not realize from your first post that your system is CE .NET... The answer I gave you is valid for Pocket PC 2002.
