No luck with that, John! The ppc doesn't support the concept of a current working directory: all paths must be absolute.

Now I am working on developing a Pocket PC application involving displaying Chinese, Portuguese and English altogether. I am using eVC++ 3.0 to develop and an English version emulator. But I found that the emulator is hardly to display those 3 languages altogether at the same time. Also I want to type Portuguese in the emulator. Would you have any methods to solve such kind of problems?

To solve the font-side of the problem, try to locate a set of TrueType fonts that will have all the character sets you need. Download them to the device's \Windows\Fonts directory to make them available.

Dear all,
I have met a problem when trying to develop a dialog based program for Pocket PC 2002.
The problem is when user press Enter, my program automatically close, and I don't want that.
Can you please tell me how to avoid that problem?
Thank you very much!

This is a default behaviour: pressing enter is the same as clicking ok, so your dialog is dismissed and the app is closed.

Hello to everyone,
I am developping an application that has to read a digital cartography that is divided into a lot of files with several directories and subdirectories. When using the physical device, it's rather easy to upload all them just using drag n' drop on windows explorer.
But things are different with the emulator. By the moment, I haven't found a way to make a batch upload. Is there a way to do this? Or there is a compressor that can be used in the emulator to unzip the content of the cartography?
Thank you in advance.

Dear Friends,
Does anybody know how to configure the ActiveSync connection so that it wont suddenly lost the connection with the device. This is very annoying some times when i am doing some lengthy debugging of my applications using Embedded VC++ 4.0 debugger.
I am using ActiveSync 3.5 on Windowe 2000 Professional and my device is of ARM processor and Windows CE .NET
Thanks in advance,

Hi I have a weird problem that I cannot seem to figure out. It has to do with adding an OnReceive() event in a derived CSocket class. The problem is that even though I add the virtual function OnReceived into the derived class and call my main form the event won't fire. If I map a read buffer function (when I know there is data waiting to be received) I can the buffer, however, I am unable to get the event to fire. here is the virtual function:
void MySocket::OnReceive(int nErrorCode)
{
if(nErrorCode == 0){
((CSmartPDADlg*)m_pWnd)->onreceive();
//((CSmartPDADlg*)m_pWnd)->WriteLog(L"RECEIVE");
}
CSocket::OnReceive(nErrorCode);
}
Even if I put a break in the following function, it never gets called even thought it is receiving data. The onreceive() event in the main class is as follows:
void CSmartPDADlg::onreceive(){
char *buff = new char[512] ;
int size = 512 ;
int recd ;
CString recdstr ;
recd = clientSocket.Receive(buff, size ) ;
//m_log.SetWindowText((LPCTSTR)"HERE");
if ( recd == SOCKET_ERROR )
{
MessageBox( L"Error in receive ", NULL, MB_OK);
}
else
{
buff[recd] = NULL ;
recdstr = buff ;
//recdstr.
WriteLog(recdstr);
//GetProtocolTokens(recdstr);
UpdateData ( FALSE ) ;
}
}
If anyone has ran into the problem in having EVC++ 3.0 not firing CSocket OnReceive events please advise. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all,
WinCE does not support "BeginPath","EndPath" and "PathToRegion", only
rectangle region can be created using "CreateRectRgn", so it is difficult to
create an irregular region such as triangle.
How to do?

anyone know how the upgrade/patch process will work for .net cf on wm2003 ppc's? will it require an entire ROM upgrade (most likely through the oem's... or will the upgraded classes reside in RAM similiar to how .net cf is implemented on ppc2002's today?

Hi,
I am facing a very strange problem. I can't find a way to use dll/activeX with my emulator.
I have searched the whole forum and tried all possible solutions to similar problems but nothing works.
When using control manager I get a message saying 'can't find suitable control manager server' or something.
When trying to use regsvrce, it is nowhere to be found on my emulator.
When trying to load a .dll through my eVB, I run the emulator and get a message saying that pvbdecl.dll can't be found.
What is wrong with my software????

The processor used for the emulator is still the processor from your computer! So, it's normal you cannot run a compiled application for pocket PC on your computer.
The use of the emulator is to test your source code: you have to compile it in a certain way so it can be understood by your computer.
Hope this helps

Thanks, that does answer my question. It's a pity a person can't run compiled apps! Thanks again

I see that you've got a jump on this PPC programming once the Axim arrived. I was exactly like that.. I think within 30mins of the box being opened and ActiveSync being installed, i had the eVT3 exe being downloaded.
Are you writing your code for use in .NET or just plain ole WinCE? My Toshiba doesn't come with .NET CF pre-installed and I'm scared to whether I should install it or not; I don't want to mess with 'my preciousssss'
Happy coding!
Paul van der Walt wrote:

The emulator can only run x86 (or x86em) compiled WinCE code.
