Hi,
Does anyone know how if I can make a CView a fullscreen window without also making the CMainFrame fullscreen.
Until now I've had a single SDI view which I could make fullscreen by hiding toolbars and windows furniture on the CMainFrame class and then maximizing the window - a technique which is well described in numerous usenet postings. I now have a split main view and of course the full screen window shows both views rather than a single pane.
I've messed around with the use of a separate fullscreen CWnd that shares the same drawing code as the view embedded in the splitter. This works quite well but starts to get messy when you consider things like key accelerators which are normally maintained by the CMainFrame class to which it has no connection. Also, command handlers which are currently part of the view will have to be into the CMainFrame which I don't particularly want to do.
Thanks,
Jason.

A CView lives within a frame window, so the answer is "you can't". However, you could create a modeless child of the mainframe that occupies the entire screen.

Say I have a truncated string (Like thi...) in a column of a CList control. What do I need to wire up to display the full string in a tooltip?

There is a tooltip control which is wrapped in MFC by CToolTip. There is all sorts of articles about using both of them here and on MSDN.

I'm using a program (abc2midi) to create midi files, but I can't see the title, author and other information about the file when I play it with common midi or karaoke midi players. I downloaded a copy of the midi standard. Just wondering if there is a specific flag most common midi programs look for in order to display title, author and related information or if different midi programs do so differently. Are there any tools out there for adding title, author and so on to an already created midi file?
Basically, I'd like to get title, author, source and historical information to display on as many midi players as possible when the file is played. Any suggestions on how to go about editing a midi file to accomplish this.
Thanks.

I am searching for an easy way to paste a bitmap from the clipboard into a CRichEditCtrl.
I have already found various articles in the internet which discuss many ways to insert a bitmap into the rtf control either from file or from resource.
I have also taken a look at the MSDN Library sample "Wordpad", which I think works using OLE.
But I think those solutions are all to complex for my application. I only need the option to paste a simple bitmap from clipboard into the control without functions to use OLE to maniplulate the bitmap or inster other OLE objects.
So can anyone give me a hint/an easy way to paste a bitmap into a rtf control?
Thanks in advance.

So did the articles you found offer no hints?

Of course. But I am a little bit confused about the various approaches. I am not sure if I must use OLE or if there is an other way to do it since I need a small solution and not the ultra OLE solution with all possible OLE objects.
The examples in the articles are very huge and full of OLE stuff.
So I want to get some information and experience from the users here how they solved the problem and maybe which examples from the internet they used. And my goal is still a easy solution and not the all-in-one ultra code

Hi
There is a help-file made by a former collegue called 'MyProgram.CHM'.
He made the help file splitted by two languages, dutch and French.
If the user wants help, he can press F1 or push a button and the next code is called: 'WinExec("hh MyProgram.chm", SW_SHOW);'
and the help file is opened. The cursor is on the dutch part automatically.
Now, if the user is in the french version of the program, the same file should be launched but putting cursor on the french part).
So, i have a result help file but i want the french users not to see the dutch version of the file, but directly the french version of the file.
Anyone any ideas?
greets
Jens

Hi,
I have a thoroughly odd problem and really no longer know where to look. Any possible pointer would be very much appreciated.
Problem: I have two programs which are basically used to send/receive data blocks on a serial port. Some time ago I got me a USB to serial port converter with which both software sets used to work very, very well because the drivers that come with the converter make it seem as if there is simply an additional serial port. From the point of view of windows programs using window's standard serial port interfacing methods there is no discernible difference between a normal serial port and the converter.
In both programs the data transfer (receive and transmit of a data block) is done by means of window's ReadFile and WriteFile functions. Under all pre-XP versions of Windows both programs work OK. Under XP though there is one that does not while the other one still works perfectly. After much debugging etc... I found that in the one case a received data block is still read correctly by means of the ReadFile function. In the other case The data block that is read is strangely modified. The modfication is such that if say a 9 byte data block is sent I do receive all the bytes, the bytes are correct but the order in which they are received is different from the order in which they were sent. To illustrate (bytes shown as decimal values):
actual block of bytes is: 09, 02, 33, 68, 97, 116, 97, 35, 156.
Bytes read by Readfile : 02, 33, 68, 97, 116, 97, 35, 156, 09
As shown above the first byte of the nine byte block ends up as the last byte. Also, it does not make the slightest bit of difference whether I read the nine byte block in one go or byte by byte. The result stays the same. I meticulously checked that there is no additional byte identical to the first one following the
data block and there certainly is not.
I am really stuck here and therefore any help or suggestion as to what may be doing this would be much appreciated.
All for now,
Filip

Hi again,
The question above is now irrelevant, The odd sequences stem from the fact that subsequent ReadFile operations yielded chunks of multiple consecutive identical blocks. The problem appears to be timing related, by delaying the data retrieval slightly it is now working OK.
All for now,
Filip

as far as i know, it's not really possible to detect what keyboard model u are using without directly querying the keyboard via hardware I/O.
Don't try it, just do it!
