Hi
I'm developing an application that have a List Control inside.
I would like to receive the "return key pressed" event, but I don't see how to do this.
I use the LVN_KEYDOWN notification but it detects all the pressed keys exception for the return key. !?...
If someone have experienced the same problem and/or know how to solve it I would be very appreciated if you reply it for me.
TIA.

Try handling the WM_GETDLGCODE message, and add DLGC_WANTRETURN to the default implementation's return value.

Handling the NM_RETURN notification message should do the trick.

I am writing a service for windows NT. The service itself works fine, but it needs to bind to a socket. The problem is CSocket::Create(port) fails every time.
Does anyone know what is going on?
Thanks ever so much!

I'm not a MFC expert (never uses it), but AFAIK CSocket doesn't work with services...
You should use plain socket (all the WSA* functions) instead of the MFC wrappers...

I've experience that some security accounts under which services run can make them fail when accessing network resources, e.g., LocalSystemAccount.
Try running the service with Administrator to see if the problem is security related.
BTW, what is the value of GetLastError() ?

CSocket does not work well with NT services.
Check out PJ Naughters class library, which has a number of classes that are derived from his own CSocket class for use with NT services.
http://www.codeproject.com/library/pj.asp
I've used them quite a bit to get me out of the same situation.
Hope this helps,
Giles

Did you call AfxSockInit befofre using CSocket?
Also, you may have problem making CSocket work correctly because your service is a console application.
If you can make your code work in a regular MFC program (outside an NT service), then this tool by Xiangyang Liu might help you.
Good luck.

When I try to launch the HtmlHelp API function from a dialog box the window seems to be created but it is not shown. After that I have lost control of the help window and can no longer launch it from other parts of the program.
The program is an MFC Dialog app. I can successfully launch the help window from the main dialog. I'm only having trouble from a child modal dialog.
Here's how I am calling the function...
HWND hwnd = HtmlHelp(::GetDesktopWindow(),
".\\MyProgHelp.chm", HH_DISPLAY_TOPIC, NULL);
Thanks for any help!

Hi
Does anybody know if there is a way to control how opaque a window is?
Could I make a window e.g. 50% opaque or at least make an image in a window 50% opaque?
Thanks in advance.

You'll need the platform SDK and Windows 2000 ( or XP, I guess ). I forget the call, but I can look it up for you if you haven't found it.

This oughta do it
DWORD dwExstyle = GetWindowExStyle(hwnd);
SetWindowLong ( hwnd, dwExstyle|WS_EX_LAYERED );
SetLayeredWindowAttributes ( hwnd, 0, 128, LWA_ALPHA );

I would like to know how to add dynamically nodes to a parent item from a context menu.
From a choice in the context menu of the static node, the administrator can add an element in the scope pane.
I tried from the function "OnMenuCommand(IConsole *pConsole, long lCommandID)", to add a children but I did not make a success..
Note: I don't use ATL. Only COM and MFC.
Thank you for your help....

hello, i'm making a multifunctional addressbook. But nobody would use it if you'd first have to type all of your email addresses and stuff from your addressbook to the program. So i need a way to extract the emailaddresses and possibly other data from the microsoft address book automatically( you know the one that outlook express uses too)
Thanx

In my app i declare a pointer as a member variable(double *pTab;). This pointer will be used as a pointer on an array of double. In one of the member function, i want to do some calculation which do affectation like that:
for(i=1;i<=n;i++)
{
*(pTab+i)=Value_i;
}
I don't want that this function return value so i decide it will be type "void".
And now i want to use this function in another member method. So, if i call the first function, i would like to know if i will be able to get one of specific value of the array.
For example, could i just return the value *(pTab+i2)?
thanks in advance for your help

Here's a starting point for you. Bill Gates will pay you a lot of money for this. I'd forget about the money and fame, just ask for the girls.
int main()
{
if(IsLinuxInstalled())
{
DeleteLinux();
InstallWindowsXP();
}
}

That's a good start but it needs some bells and whistles if I'm going to sell it to Bill. Can you add them for me?
Is Bill the man to see for the girls?

Sorry, I was getting confused between Bill Gates and Bill Clinton. See Clinton for the girls, Gates for the money. Don't forget to remove the stains afterwards though.

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to add a flat, coloured scroll bar instead of the default grey, 3D one to a TreeView/TreeCtrl ?
I've tried loads of things such as superclassing as well as trying to capture the WM_CTLCOLORBTN/WM_CTLCOLORSCROLLBAR message but all to not avail. The GetScrollBarCtrl method always returns NULL for this type of view as well.
I've even tried capturing the WM_HSCROLL event in OnHScroll but the value of the CScrollBar* parameter returned by this is always NULL so you can't get a handle to it for subclassing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Matt

Does anyone know if it is possible to copy and paste text AND PICTURES from IE to Word?
The HTML clipboard format seems to only support simple HTML markup without graphics, but it does not explicitly say this anywhere.

Hi, all.
========
I want my app to support unicode.
There for I want to know the unicode structure.
Unicode characters are typed as short (2 * char ).
My guess is...
that the short is the character number in the ascii table .
My friend's guess is...
that the 1st char is the table type ,
and the 2nd char is the character number in the ascii table .
Can some please enlighten me ?
thanks.
BTW: come to #CodeProject on DalNet (mIRC)
