Hi,
I would enjoy playing a short custom sound with C# (like a beep) when the mouse moves over a button for example, like Ineternet Explorer does.
Would anybody help me ? Thanks.

Use managed DirectX or use P/Invoke to call the play sound method in the Win32 API.

Hi all.
I'm trying to set the IP of my NIC's. I have found nice examples showing how to get the IP through the WMI, but how can I set it?
All hints are appreciated.

As far as I know, you can't without going through the natice API, and configuring it with no DHCP, and then setting a static ip address.

Thanks for the answer, Giles.
That was a little discouraging, but I'll see what I can do about it.
If anyone out there has a piece of code for this - please post if for me.

I'm pretty sure I had a friend do it in C++ once using WMI (NetworkConfiguration class). If you can do it in C++, I would assume you could wrap it in C#.

Can I compile my c# application under MacOS-X?
Bye, Roberto Ferro

Yes and no.
If your application contains no GUI then you can most likely compile the appliaction for Mac OS-X. However you'll need a different version of the .NET Framework to compile your code. Check out www.go-mono.com[^]
If your application contains any GUI code then it will be much less likely to work with Mono

Mono only runs on windows and GNU Linux!!!
Get Portable.NET, runs on anything

Probably 2 choices , Mono by Ximian, or Rotor, which is a shared source implementation by Microsoft that compiles on Windows XP and Free/Open/Net BSD Unix's.
Mono on Linux makes use of Wine to do the GUI bit, though I have no idea about Rotor.

The application created with Portable .NET runs under OSX, but the compiler runs only under Linux. Is it true?

Uncheck 'Auto generate columns' and then manualy add bound columns using the property builder.

Hi
I want to create a custom edit box, but because it is not allowed to overwrite
its OnPaint() method I cannot derive my class from edit box class and I have to write it from scratch, but the problem is how I can make a custom control
editable.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have the following question:
May I have areas with different opacity on a form (I read about the transparency key but it makes the areas completely transparent and need some opacity, not transparency)
Because when you specify the opacity for a form - let's say 0.5 (50%) all the controls have the same transparency level.
Also I don't want to use API calls like UpdateLayeredWindow, SelecteObject, DeleteObject, GetWindowDC, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Georgi

I have a dataset which fill with two tables whith two oledbdataadapter and create oledbcommandbuilder for each dataadapter. Now when I want to update my dataset tables with oledbdataadapter.update() I can only update first table and insertcommand, updatecommand and deletecommand for second oledbdataadapter is null. According to MSDN oledbcommandbuilder only create those command for a single table in dataset,so how can I update second one? I set insertcommand for dataadapter manually but nothing happend when I call oledbdataadapter.update() for second table. Any idea?

If I inherit a class B from class A virtually, like this:
class B : virtual A{
};
then I presume, instance of B will contain a vbptr. My question is, where this vbptr will point to, or in other words, what is assigned to vbptr ?
Will it be pointing to the base class object A / to a virtual table ??
Can anyone tell me how vbptrs are implemented under the scenes.
|
|
|
|
|
Answer from a non-guru: Classes in C# can not inherit from other classes using the keyword "virtual". Virtual can only be used for methods and properties, which in turn will create a vtable (or similar construct) behind the scenes.
