Sometimes when I'm looking for a solution for a Windows interface, I run into roadblocks where I can't figure out how or where a built-in function of Windows runs from. The Windows Annoyances website has some wonderful ideas that have helped me in a few tight spots. If I cannot figure out how to access a particular Windows built-in function directly, sometimes this site can give me an idea on how to get to it indirectly.

I was wondering if the Code Project had thought about expanding. Do not get me wrong, I really like the resources that are available - which is why I think it would be great to expand it into other programming languages.... like PHP, Delphi, and other. I know languages like PHP are in direct competition for languages of Microsoft's like ASP... but I do not think that should get in the way here. I was just wondering, because I love the archive of knowledge that CP has, and would love to see it expand and put all those other half @ss code sites to rest. That's all, do not mean to start a riot.

eg; Using DoubleClick, Cookies, Popups,
Also what is CP's direction or vision.

Being a privately owned business I doubt any such compliance is necessary however it may well prove to be beneficial to the interests of CP.

I've heard about it happening to other people but it had previously never happened to me. Since the 5th June through I haven't received any e-mail from CodeProject.
Is there a way to get this fixed? I'm assuming it is something at the CodeProject end as I haven't seen any lapse in my other e-mail.

Do you have spam filters on anywhere? Does your ISP maintain a blacklist? We have the constant problem of people putting us on blacklists instead of opting-out of the newsletter, which causes havoc with others.

I run that SpamNet addin in Outlook, but that wont delete anything only move it and I have checked - there are no codeproject emails in there.
I do not believe my ISP filters e-mail but I shall check. Same about a blacklist.

I asked them, no they don't operate either a spam filter or subscribe to any blacklists.
Could it be something similar on a machine between CodeProject's ISP and mine? Unfortunately all of my mailboxes come through the same company but I shall change it to check if using a different domain helps.

With the new domain the e-mail's come through fine. Crazy. Any ideas why that should happen, given that both addresses use the exact same mailbox (one domain is an alias for the other)?

It seems there are some common topics - UML editors and revision control come to mind.
Can we have a short list oftopics like this as searching through the lounge to try and find a discussion is very difficult.

The best place I can think of just now is the General area[^].
The only other thought is that while you would have normal responses new threads could only be started by certain people, perhaps the Codeproject Proectors and editors ?

In some forums I use, there is the notion of "pinned topics", which are always displayed at the top of the list, and which contain the de facto standard answer for a particular issue. "Pinning" is done by the moderator of the forum, when he/she sees a noteworthy comment.

Only if people are willing to share quickly. I can't see me typing in code examples in to a chat thing, and the other person would get bored waiting while I fire up VS test a solution and send the example.

Chatrooms is a whole new can worms... maintaining it is very difficult plus, humm, not required when there is snork, msn , yahoo etc, I got about 8 PPl on my msn buddy list from codeproject.

I don't agree. I think the maintance can be handled by the cp staff. Yeah, you may have a ton of people on your im list, but think of all the bored programmers that could be sitting in a chat room, on this site, at one time- It might be more then 8. Then again it might take away from the message boards....

a) Do you *really* want a chat room with 5553 ppl online? (that's the current number of ppl online on CP)
Either, almost all of them must be idle, or it will be a babylonian noise.
b) I'd rather have CP staff handle this site. It's quite a job, it's their core business, and I don't want them to slack on that for all other cool things they could do (this involves snowboarding, Chris!  )
c) Who's going to do the moderating? Voting and community sense keep most whackos out of here.
d) The people that could be most hepful would likely NOT be online. Many of the wizards here are happy to help, but being rushed by a newbie attack division's questions would likely give Kojack a bad hair day.
e) We had "Bob's hungout", a chatroom running on Sonork. It starved.
I suggest open a chat room, invite us, and see if we come.

It's really hard to find help on install systems, like WISE for example. I think there should be a topic for this.
Does anyone know of a good place to get this kind of help?

I think this site really needs to be stress tested. It is probably the most inconsistently unstable web sites I konw of. Some links work, others don't. Kind of like "pot luck".
I know there are some great minds that could cure this ailment.

It wouldn't load after 10 "seperate" attempts. I tried everything I could on my end. I would expect more from a reputable website. 
Just some facts mixed with opinions. Too many people are scared to be honest, but I am not. It's nothing against CP, I'm just being a realist.

This site is stress tested. 24 hrs a day. We've upgraded hardware, improved caching, reworked database tables, quadrupled our bandwidth - and every single time we open up one bottleneck we just ratchet up to the next.
We are constantly looking to make the site faster and more stable and are at the moment working on the next round up updates. All we can ask is your patience.
