hi,
how do i determine if the contents of the dialog are changed from the initial values. i have edit boxes, check boxes, etc. after initialization of the dialog with the default values, how do i determine if the contents of the dialog are changed?
|
|
|
|
|
For editboxes you call GetModify (or send EM_GETMODIFY if you are not using MFC). Otherwise, you'll have to do it manually.
|
|
|
|
|
Most controls have a sort of OnChange Handler or OnClick...
Right click the control and choose "add event handler".
If something changes in your edit box you can check it against the original value.
good luck.

I have 2 things regarding MFC Class Wizard behaviour I wish to modify:
1. When using MFC Class Wizard's New Class Dialog, the content of Base Class ComboBox are all the standard MFC class. Is there anyway to add new classes into this ComboBox items.
2. When adding member variable of a class for certain dialog control, is it possible to override the default one, for example, instead of variable type of CButton, the system can allow us to select CRoundButton.
Thanks for any help provided.

AFAIK No.

Sure, use the Text Wizard to change CButton to CRoundButton.

Thank you for your information. But I don't understand what is a Text Wizard.
Do you mean I update the data in the header file directly? I know this can be done but I am looking for possibility to do it more efficiently.

Can somebody tell me how to hide the wastebasket from the desktop?

Sure. Just remove (or rename) the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} registry key.

Is there a way in c++ that I can do a file scan across a harddrive with multiple filters at once? Like search my HD for files that contain the filters
*abc*|*def|rty|
etc etc.
I may have quite a few of them and don't want to keep scanning over and over for each one. I would prefer to do this in C#, but I'm fairly sure you can't. I can put a managed wrapper around some c++ if it will do this.
TIA

Either you do the scan several times, or you look for all files, filtering it yourself - so, no can do.

Oh well, thanks for the info. I'll get all and filter myself then.

You could parse the filter into its individual patterns, sending each one to a separate thread. Each thread would then report back to the primary thread with its findings.
Or, for each file on the target drive, see if it matches any of the patterns in the filter. I did this once back about 11 years ago. It was a DOS-based utility and was a very good learning exercise.

How to enable/disable a menu item in a pop-up sub-menu? For instance, I'd like the "File->Save" to be grayed out, before "File->Open" is choosen.
Very appreciate for any help from anyone!!!;P

Are you using MFC? In that case, you add a command enabler to the command. There, you call Enable on the input parameter CCmdUI .
You'll also want to add a flag in some appropriate place for the prerequisite, of course.

When I create a Monochrome bitmap, select it into the CDC*, and draw on it, I get the expected monochrome results (ie. balck and white pattern fills for pDC->Rectanlge(&rc)).
However, when I attempt to create a 16 color bitmap (4-bits), and try the same drawing code, nothing appears in the client area.
This is what I am using for Monochrome drawing:
bmpBitmap.CreateBitmap(rc.Width() ,rc.Hieght(), 1,1, NULL);
This is what I am using for 4-bit drawing:
bmpBitmap.CreateBitmap(bm.bmWidth , bm.bmHeight, 1,4, NULL); //4th Parameter is nBitcount
The drawing code that works for the MonoChrome (and stock CDC bitmap) works fine, but nothing appears for the 4-bit Bitmap. What am I missing?
Thanks for any information you can provide,
Joe

We have a service that runs on NT, 2K and some XP machines (without SP1). Does anyone have any idea what would cause the service to not run on certain XP machines (XP with SP1)?
Thanks!

<sarcasm>It could be that something ( we have no way of knowing since you didn't give us any idea what the service does or how it does it ) in your service is incompatible with something in Windows XP SP1.</sarcasm>
Perhaps this will help you http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/windowsxp_sp1_preview.asp[^]
