I think somehow your dsw association got removed. You'll need to re-associate it to Visual Studio [msdev].

look at the console commands assoc and ftype . Your shell associations for .dsw are screwed.

This is a shot in the dark, but do you get the same results when you use ShellExecute(...) instead? I have noticed differences in the behavior of these functions for certain operations.

Hi,
does anyone know how one would go about to programatically save the contents of a Packager object (a 'package'), embedded in a RichEdit control (or any OLE client)? That is, the original file that is encapsulated in the Packager object (such as a ZIP file), not the compound document storage.
Should it not be possible, is there a replacement available, one that exposes an interface making this possible?

to follow up i have discovered the following on win2k:
_stprintf(szValue,_T("%.2f"),fNumber);
doesn't do decimals in release mode but does in debug mode
if i change it to:
_stprintf(szValue,_T("%2.2f"),fNumber);
it works.
is this a newly introduced bug in the untime libs or is there some subtlety of sprintf i'm missing?

I'm working on a simple dialog-based app that include Windows Media Player ActiveX control. I have my own set of cursors and they are working fine everywhere except area where MP is.  in this area I can't set my cursor. Could you please help me to solve this problem?

If they have set their own cursor then you cant do much about that, but they might have some property to change the cursor.

If you mean you want to write a generic control that will allow users to connect to any database, then you'd need to get the native libraries for each of those DBs. I know that MySQL and Postgres have C APIs. I dont know about SQL server and Access. Oracle has a C/C++ library too. Then people can generically use your control and your control can use the library specific to the target DB.

Yes, you can do all that using ADO. There are tutorials on this site and in MSDN. However, you seem to be contradicting yourself a bit, you should take a step back, consider what you're trying to achieve, and consider if you provide more specific information, we might be able to help you a bit more.

Me too, until he started asking how to open an Access file and check if it contains any tables.
And Lord *knows* between ODBC, DAO and ADO, we need something else.

1/ Please don't post under different names, and please don't post the same questions over and over. It just annoys people.
2/ So you want to *use* a M$ database accessing technology to create a control that accesses databases, you don't want to write your own version of ADO/DAO/OBDC ?
I did however mean exactly what do you want thins thing to do ? Do you have any prior experience using ATL ? Creating ActiveX controls ? Using ADO/DAO/OBDC ? I'm just trying to get an idea of what you're actually trying to achieve *specifically* and how much you already know about the process you're proposing.
