here is a simple example
open notepad.
copy and paste this in
************************************
ipconfig /all > C:\ip.txt
************************************
select file save as
name "ip.cmd" <--- without quotes
in the file type drop list
choose "All files" <---- without quotes
save it to the desktop
locate ip.cmd on the desktop and double click it
next open your c:\ drive and open the ip.txt file
it should show your ip address, mac address, dns servers etc.
this is a simple .exe/.cmd/ etc file
.exe means execute this "Code"
.cmd means execute this "command"
different file extentions but sme results
in one of my vb applications,
i can do this as a example
**************************************
Private Sub Command1_Click()
ShellExecute Me.hWnd, "Open", "C:\RMSC LOGIN\AdminHelp.html", "", "", 1
End Sub
**************************************
all this is, is a command button that executes & opens a html file in internet explorer
hope this helps

No, i dont want to create Exe like that.
I want to program with it by using C/C++.
For instance, I want to know all about Exe header, so what exe header use for? How can i manage its header?
Then, i want to know how to create a file that will execute its information, needn't any program. (where in the exe file i will insert data to execute, and how i do that?)
Thanks anyway

I want to program with it by using C/C++.
You need a compiler. ( if you're on Windows, use Visual Studio ).
I'm not sure what you mean by Exe Header ( or what you want to say by "Exe Header" ) ?
are you talking about #include headers ? or talking about Portable Executable File ( executable file format )
Portable Executable File

You need to specify what you want to do, no-t throw out bits and opeices of what yu want to do
you asked for an example that is what you got
here is the hello world example
#include <iostream.h>
main()
{
cout << "Hello World!";
return 0;
}
One more thng, you need to compile any .cpp , .h ,.c file in order for it to run
|
|
|
|
|
What I understand is this: He wants to make his own compiler, and wants to know the Portable Executable format so he can translate C++ code to the EXE format through his own C++ code.

Oh.Yes, i want to know what Executable file structure (or Portable file in windows). Because i want to push my program into it, so everytime i double click to this file, it will execute itselft, not need any other program. My Program is made by C++, but i dont want to compile it to exe file(build). I want to make exe file by myself.
Clearly, i want to make a compress file that will be execute itself.
I knew the compress algorithm (i use LZW) and did successfuly in borland c++. Now, i want to make a exe file for the compressed file so that it will uncompress to the original file when run it.
So, How i can push my LZW into executable File (or Portable file).

Hello there! Does anyone experienced a communication problem between Win2003 and Win2K? I have this program using server and client socket (using CSocket). The server is Win2003 and the clients are WinXP and Win2K. I have this LED indicator (bitmap image) wherein it indicates if there is a communication between server and client. If the LED is green there is connection and if red there is no connection. It works fine if the connection is between Win2003 and WinXP. But the problem occurs if it is between Win2003 and Win2K. The Win2K is updated to service pack 4. Am I missing an update or something?
Thank you very much who can give me support.

first you shouldn't dual boot windows, microsoft doesn't recomend that.
second, figure out which OS you like the best.
back up yor imprtant stuff shut you PC off turn it on, go into the BIOS, change the Boot priority to your CD drive, insert your OS choice, and do a fresh install wiping everything away.
after your done, i noticed you asked about installing Linux, go here---> http://fedora.redhat.com/download/ and read everything

If you format Winxp with FAT32 it mean that you can view XP partition with windows explorer in winme. Then just delete everything from drive D: and go to the root drive C: and find the file boot.ini . An example of the content of the boot.ini file is show below.
[boot loader]<br />
timeout=30<br />
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS<br />
[operating systems]<br />
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
In your computer you will find two something like this:
[boot loader]<br />
timeout=30<br />
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS<br />
[operating systems]<br />
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect<br />
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows ME" /fastdetect
Then change the file to become:
[boot loader]<br />
timeout=0<br />
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS<br />
[operating systems]<br />
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows ME" /fastdetect
This mean your windows boot only windows Me.
In case that your winxp format with NTFS. I recommend you to delete the partition of windows xp. To delete the partition just make a boot diskette in windows 98 and boot it from the A: drive then run FDISK command. Then delete the patition with labled: "Delete Non DOS partition "
john_tran wrote:
2> ME, keep XP.
I think in this case you might not possible to do that, whether windows xp install on drive D: but some file system of windows xp is stored in drive C: too.
Good luck

Try this way:
1. Start your computer in windows xp.
2. Remove the folder program file and windows folder from your windows me drive. Don't remove other file because it might contain system file to boot to windows xp.
3. Edit boot.ini file to remove the line that point to boot to windows me. Test it if it boot successfully then configure the time out to 0 in order to boot immediately to windows xp because will have only one operating system.

Try to check the information from here[^]. On the other hand, I think you should put the complete name in the path to the specific place in the registry key.
jlawren7 wrote:
HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\ComputerName\ComnputerName
It should change too:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\ComputerName\ComnputerName
or:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\ComputerName\ComnputerName
Good luck

the key does exist cuz i copied and pasted the key

Hi,
I'm working on a web service programmed with ATL Server templates and classes. This web service is under testing in a Windows 2000 Server, IIS 5. It's running with high (isolated) application protection (so a new DLLHOST process appears when I make a request to my web service). I've noticed (using Process Explorer) that when an unhandled exception raises, Windows kills all my components in the DLLHOST process, but doesn't kill the DLLHOST process itself (of course, the user owned one, not the system DLLHOST). I just want to know why it behaves like that. Is it not supposed to kill the whole process that produces an unhandled exception?
Thanks,
Federico

Hello all,
I'm having a problem with a call to SetCurrentDirectory, which is returning "Access denied". The folder in question has only Read access granted to the user, not List Folder Contents. This seems the correct behaviour to me, given the info in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303758.
However if I share the folder and make the call to SetCurrentDirectory with "\\computername\myshare\myfolder", then the call succeeds, even though it's the same folder has the same permissions.
I wondered if someone might know why this could be? I need to use the full C:\ path in my application and must not change the permissions (the app currently uses a network share which also works fine with just Read permission).
Apologies in advance if this is a daft question - I'm new to Windows security.
Thanks,
Stuart

IF you look at What MSDN says about SetCurrentDirectory,you will find answer to your problem.
here what is what MSDN states
Each process has a single current directory made up of two parts:
A disk designator that is either a drive letter followed by a colon, or a server name and share name (\\servername\sharename)
A directory on the disk designator

Thanks for your message. However I'm not sure it explains why I get differing behaviour i.e. success when using the "server name and share name", and failure when using the "drive letter followed by a colon", even though both strings point to the same folder.
I suspect the share permissions are overriding the folder permissions, and only come into play when the share is used to access the directory. I thought I could test this by explicitly denying "List Folder Contents" and allowing "Read" on the folder, but this option is not allowed by the Windows permissions dialog...
