Hello friends,

I have requirement to create a word file in my asp.net application. I am able to do this if MS-Office is installed in my system. But if office is uninstalled then it gives exception, I tried to copy office dlls and put into the bin folder. I tried to add them into the gac of a system which dont have office installed. But still I am getting strange exceptions. Please suggest any solution.

Thanks,
Jagjot

You must have Office installed on the server. Simply placing the dlls in the bin or GAC is not enough, there are registry settings and other dlls that are required that the setup program places for Office to function.

Hello Mark, Thank you very much for your quick response. I would like to know if any deployment tool available for this or any tool from microsoft that I can buy for deployment which can automatically install required office files.

Microsoft only releases a setup application for Office to very select group of clients.
Hope Word[^]will give you an idea.
