problem with window backgrounds

Hi ,
I have been trying to print 4 different windows of same size on a terminal using curses library. But I would like to print four windows with different back ground colors. But when i try to do it....I get the same color for all the 4 windows.
Can you please suggest me a way to do it.

What "I try to do it" means? To me, it would mean something if you show some code sample -- a couple of line would do...
