How to create Java enabled phones emoticons/smileys

Hi guys,

Can someone please send me in the right direction, how can i create Emoticons/smileys for mobile phones. I want to create them from scratch, i tried with java appalet and drwawing but there is limited information on it.

Please Please Please, Someone, any?
