I wan to develop a basic music player. What language do you think will be the right choice to learn for this, other than learning C?

Using the .NET framework (language can be C# or VB .NET) would make things simpler.

It's worth adding that you will not develop a music player. You'd develop your own user interface for an existing one, almost certainly windows media player.
