Surprise surprise[^]
For my variety of past-times - shooting and climbing mainly - there isn't anything to compare it to (other than other Land Rovers). Takes 5 people in comfort plus a mahoosive boot, brought 5 people back from North Wales climbing plus all their personal stuff (a large rucksack each), and most of the club's equipment which consisted of 12 ropes, 4 large bouldering mats, 3 massive bags of food and various other odds and sods. And there was still space in the boot.
Only car I know of that can take 5 people and carry shotguns both lengthways and widthways in the boot.
And will get anywhere we'd want to possibly reach doing the above activities. While towing a trailer.
I doubt it. If it isn't intuitive then we need to fix it. - Chris Maunder

The best would never have to drive. If we must drive, the car should require no maintenance and never breakdown.

Bought one before they were making them nd I think it was the best decision I ever made.
It sucks driving in it the winter (didn't do that this recent winter because of the brain tumor thing) but it's fast, a convertible, does 140 easy, and was reasonably priced as far as I can see compared to other 'sports cars' from other vendors.

I think the Red Rider said it best...
I can't drive 55 because there are too damn many cars on the freeway !
Time to start flying or buy a motorcycle... and split lanes.

The Toyota's sale is still good. Recall did not impact the sale too much.

I am sorry to disturb your deep sleep but most of the Toyota issues were a beat up promoted by competing car manufacturers who were themselves in deep sh** due to flagging sales.
Recently held inquiries have revealed that many of the so called problems were issues more related to incompetent drivers. Anyone that does not know how to stop a runaway car needs to have their permission to be on the road scrutinised as they are a danger to others no matter what make of car they are driving.
I make this comment in the spirit of objectivity as I have never owned a Toyota.

I would like to drive cheap, economical, practical and reliable.
But i actually drive large, technologically advanced, expensive, and well engineered. (BMW X5)
Cos that's wot the other half wanted ..

My four-wheeler is a new Skoda; economical, cheap, flexible (kids, drumsets, building material, saxophones, bikes, you name it, it goes in my car). It has a trailer hook for transporting big stuff.
I lashed out and got a 2-liter motor; officially for hauling the trailer but really for overtaking BMWs on the Autobahn. You have to take your fun where you find it at my age.
The great thing about a cheap car is, when the kids ding it I don't really get mad. I pretend to and they have to get it mended and get banned for a few weeks. They don't get the same treatment in the spousal unit's big Audi.
