What's a "book"?
Is that like an e-book but not searchable?

Exactly. I can't imagine what kind of Luddites are voting for book in this day and age. Get your heads on straight!

The same kind that refuses to use multiple monitors

If they are properly indexed they are searchable.

Hmm where do you put in the search term? Write it on the binding?

Is something wrong about it?
Or its a kind of publicity?
Only a joke or insider? :P

Shortly after the release of the Visual C++ 2008 Enhancement Pack (or whatever was called at the time) I tried going for CMFCListCtrl, but nobody would follow me...
Anyway, it relates to a fellow that once mistaked the "Other" option in a survey for the article search textbox. Or something like that...

What sort of information?
|
|
|
|
|
I consume a lot of "Article of the Day" kind of newsletter, something like CodeProject does and summarizes a lot of what is going on.
If something really grabs my intention then I dig a little more about it but most reads will end on the head lines.
One thing that I find most productive is the Fiday afternoon "class" given by a team member about a subject that he knows or had to learn to teach the rest of us.
Every week a new team member have to teach something and this way only one of us have to spend time digging on a subject.
Friday afternoons are usually a lot less productive anyway so, this is a way to power up the end of the week.
Cheers!

I have only worked in one environment where that was done, and that was a very long time ago. It may seem helpful, but I remember how much work you had to put in to get that "simple" one hour class done. About a week, if it was any good!

What kind of poll is this really? I selected every option listed. I'm sure you can gather some very accurate results from that.

I thought the same thing. Except I did not select video and podcasts.

Yes, I thought the same, I have also selected everything except Audio Books and Podcast. Whatever way I just want to learn things / get more information...

I love the smell of a new book and all the knowledge it contains.
I want to take a pencil and make notes next to the text.
I don't want to care wether something is pdf, epub or any of that, I don't like reading a book on my pc (don't have an e-reader), a book is just so much more comfortable to the eyes (in my opinion).
It's pretty easy to delete the ebook by accident (cleaning your pc) though most of you probably make backups.
Turn your comp off, take a seat, turn on the stereo or put in your earplugs and read.

That's not the only use, either: particularly if they have nice, soft pages...

Digital formats (PDF, e-book...) are better in several ways when you are trying to solve a specific problem...
You can load them at your computer, put them on a separate display and search for the topic/text you are looking for. moreover when you get the result you can copy and paste it to your code...
Much better in all the ways one can imagine.
