Who says IE 6 is gone
Cheers,

I can say it: "IE 6 is gone", but then again I can always point to todays date.
Anyway, that is kind of scary. I do play a few games and watch Netflix through our Wii, but I have never heard any of our customers requesting us to support it.

Probably, because it is covered by ticking three options: 8, 9, and 10.

IE8 and above. is diff that IE8 or lower ? The later option includes IE7 and below.

"IE8 or lower" implies IE8 without considering IE7, IE6 etc. So "IE10", "IE9" and "IR8 or lower" covers IE8 + IE9 + IE10 to my mind.

How did you define "lower" ? Browsers <= IE8 or Browsers >= IE8. According to your response it falls out to Browsers >= IE8. Which is wrong for me.
Let me ask you simple qn? What is this suppose to mean.
Quote: This application is best viewed in IE 8 or higher. To conclude what I understand from the option give "IE8 or lower" = {IE8, IE7, IE6, ...}

Shudder, if you can't work out that "IE8 or lower" covers earlier browser versions, remind me never to let you write a conditional statement.

The keyword here is or, which in my mind "allows" me to check that box even if I only support one single browser and that is IE8, IE7 or IE6.
The point I take from this thread is, that there should have been individual checkboxes for IE8, IE7 and IE6, especially when taken the post about Wii into account.

Maybe, because they use the same rendering engine?

Yes. They share the same rendition engine called 'WebKit'.

Generally, prefer "Rendering". Rendition conjures images of people being carted across borders by dark forces.

...while rendering conjures up a giant pot of bubbling pig fat.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

They are paired because They use WebKit Rendering engine..

Paired because the author of the poll [wrongly] thinks that they will not show any differences in displaying the websites and manipulate code like JS events etc.
and definitely a good point about the IE!

The clients for who I have worked, mention clearly about their browser compatibility requirements.
So, according to that, we develop and testers are provided test environment accordingly to review the application.
|
|
|
|
|
But i have a bad experience. I worked on a project that neither mentioned their browser compatibility requirement nor test environments(they want to target Mac, but no Mac environment was provided) are provided. That time was a nightmare of my career

Oh so sad.
So, how did you overcome the hurdle and delivered the product ?
|
|

I took some more days and used many JavaScript plugins to overcome browser compatibility issues

Great... Hats of to you man.
Keep up this good work.

I will make sure that my web app looks same irrespective of browser.
