As the results show so far, it's incredible that hamsters prefer Windows Phone rather than iPhone, me included.

why? iPhone is a toy for little girls with rich parents and people who don't know tech and want to pay for half-eaten apples. Not the avarage CP user it seems

Keep in mind, the results are of people who actually took the poll, not all CPers.

Not that surprising, this site has historically been most active for MS technologies, so I'd expect there to be selection bias in the sample set.

Still... WP is a relatively new platform and iOS came before Android. Yet Android dominates even here and it is not an MS platform.
If I could guess is it's the fault of iOS closeness nature, which tend to repel power users like CPians.

i'd say it's more cuz most of us already have been forced to get used to java and like being able to use c++.
and nobody wants to bother learning objective c.
that's the case for ME at least.

Yes, I for one am an avid WP user. The OS is really nice and yes, I do have a bias towards MS and MS techs so my opinion is a little skewed. However I have used the iphone and android and still prefer the WP. Android is my second.

Used over 10 years: Nokia 3510 - then my son swapped it with his Nokia 100 before he went overseas. Candybars are great: the battery lasts a whole week between charges.

I was using the Lumia 800 on 1.5 years and it works so well that I bought Lumia 1020. Now I have Lumia 2520 tablet also, so everything goes smoothly together.

A classic example of a multiple choice question without an alternative answer therefore skewing the result. None of the above apply. I have a Blackberry but that is because my Company supplies it. If it was up to me I would just have basic phone.

I have an iPad for playing and a cheap and cheerful Nokia for making calls. It isn't smart but that's why I have the iPad.
I may not last forever but the mess I leave behind certainly will.

Mine is simply named Phone! Honest.

I love the Android platform. But Google's shennanigans are just TOO much.
I had a windows 7.8 phone most recently, and enjoyed it tremendously. But had really crappy service.
Rather than risk moving up to a new provider with a win 8 phone, I decided to go back to something I knew would work and got a 64g iPhone 5s on Verizon.

And you said that you did not want "crappy service"

It's pretty stellar compared to T-Mobile. That was unusable. Cheap, and unusable.

I gave up on getting "deals" from network providers a few years ago when T-Mobile screwed me over. I will now buy the handset outright and get a SIM only deal from a network. And if I don't like it, I'll switch to another network.
(I actually now have a PAYG SIM which I can get unlimited data on for £15 per month). Over the course of the standard contract term I'm now much better off, although it does mean a larger upfront payment.
And the other advantage is that I can put foreign SIMs in when I'm travelling. Although the French SIM I have is now a bit pointless since the EU abolished roaming charges from within the EU it is actually cheaper paying my home rate in France, than paying the French rate in France. (Madness!)

Okay, "will be" cheaper. Since I'm unlikely to be travelling to the rest of the EU before July it is a moot point for me.

Google's shennanigans are the best thing........I wish they were up to more shennanigans if it makes their services and integration even better.
