Adding new folders to the PATH environment variable, since it's almost completely unnecessary these days. Adding one folder will get me to curse you. Adding two or more is an almost guaranteed uninstall.

Philosophically speaking, if there is no reason for the app then it shouldn't be installed in the first place. If it doesn't do what you expected it to do it should be removed. If it has security issues and you install it or keep it, It's All Your Fault

Suddenly with the new update, the application requires permission to view contacts... It's a compass app.

What OS, Android? You can disable auto update of apps altogether in the Play Store settings. This is one of the first things I do.

It's not about "auto" update - when reviewing updates I often get "This app requires permission to access your …" (insert contacts, photos, etc). Quite often when I untick everything I then cannot apply the "update"

And this is why I sometimes write my own software (especially if it's a small utility) if I can't find something that does what I want it to do.
Also a good reason why I prefer portable versions of an app, just delete the folder.

To register is not that a K.O. criterium, this is the reason trash emails exists. It might annoy, but I would not avoid installing / deinstall it.
Other: Perfectly working app, that get an non-required / non-desired update that messes around or shows the greed of the company... bye bye.

Pre-installed manure that isn't even really an application - but a sales pitch to install it.

Ah yes. The link to a downloader for the web installer that downloads the application installer that downloads the components to run the application from the... web.

I gather, then, that your PC has no O/S ?

Nope, and neither do my phone and tablet.
The survey was about apps, not O/Ses. The O/S is a necessary evil, and for better or for worse, I have to do a lot of my work under Windows.

Most of those are reasons not to install something in the first place; not reasons to uninstall.
My main reason to uninstall something is that I didn't install it in the first place - it was pre-installed crapware.

Trouble is you generally don't find out about most of those reasons until you have installed it and start trying to use your shiny new toy ... then you uninstall and try to get your money back ...
