You take a vacation to get away from the daily rut, everything you take is optional.
Sand between your toes is enjoyable....a laptop full of sand is junk!

...likely no summer vacation, as usual. If I did have a vacation, I'd probably take a laptop but not use it for tech stuff, and I would definitely take my camera. Heck, I don't often even leave home without it, period! No programming books - who would want to read about tech stuff during a vacation?

I don't think this should be taken as you are going on holiday, at the most you can take a PDA and GPRS mobile if neeed be.
Camera is my choice !!!

Significantly more people would take their camera than significant other? Maybe there are a lot of single people on here (or at this rate there soon will be).

Funny people here consider a camera to be more important than bringing clothes or a toothbrush

Might I suggest Hedonism II (in Jamaica), or if your a bit conservative, Hedonism III.
You are, however, right about the toothbrush . . .

I think that's a good text to put on a sign next to where you lay down on the beach

Good point: what good is leave if you can't take it?
...usually gets paid out end of your last day of work, the very day before you start your new job at a new company really should start taking better care of ourselves!!

I needed a break after 13 years and the boss said you need to decide where you are going first. I dropped the subject, because I did not understand the concept. Six months latter I walk out the door and forgot to go back.
