Hello, my name is Sandra and I've come to technology somewhat late in life as a career choice. While I've always been techie oriented, I didn't get my big break until 1995 as a mainframe operator for a local bank. From there, it just blossomed!
My current position as a Technical Writer is great, I get to combine my love of words and technology, AND get paid for it! Can't beat that with a stick in my book.
My tools of the trade for the last eight years include, but are not limited, to the following: CSS, HTML, XML, Adobe Photoshop CS2 & CS3, Word 2003 & 2007, MS Publisher 2003 & 2007, Robohelp, Flare, Dreamweaver, Expressions Web, VS2005 for web development, etc.
I wish I could say I was a Master of one, but the position of Technical Writer is dynamic, most of the managers I've worked for (okay, okay, the FOUR managers) weren't sure what my duties really should have been..so I've done everything from cleaning MACs in a shool environment, copy writing marketing flyers and designing tradeshow floor plans, video editing and production to remodeling a corporate bathroom.
On a personal note:
I am amerasian by birth, I was born in Seoul. I was raised along with my sister in the beautiful piney woods of Southern Arkansas. I still call this home, but commute to my not-so-favorite state, Louisiana, for work.
I am a proud mother of a beautiful and accomplished daughter. She's attending Texas A&M this year and plans to major in some animal science. It changes from day to day, but I'm sure she will settle into something by the time she gets the basics out of the way, but for now she wants to be a veterinarian. I also have a wonderful menagerie of dogs and cats that I love dearly.
I'm not particularly religious but I have interest in them. Maybe I should say I have questions.
For leisure, as if I have time for leisure, I listen to XM radio - specifically Ethel and U-Pop, knit and play mmorpgs - WoW and EQ2.
