As it turns out, CodeFactory had a wrapper ready and available. A staff member there contacted us and gave us access to this wrapper with all the API calls already made. We are now making use of this. I will still accept your answer as it helped out and I am sure somebody else will need this information at some point.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll do a bit of research into this using the doc you've linked to and I'll try get some more feedback from Nuance regarding this :)

Shortly after your reply I ran into the issue again on a couple of clients and used your suggestion to attempt to fix them, but the same thing seems to have cropped up again on one of the machines (running Server 2012) :/ Thanks for the suggestion though as it seems to have helped on some PCs, just not all.

Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely look into those. Maybe creating an equation editor isn't too bad an idea

Thanks for the quick reply. I did look at MathType, but it didn't seem to offer what I need. I'll give it another look. I don't mind whether or not it's free.
