you're applying effect on <p> tag so it will affect block of p tag.

also make sure you load jquery file otherwise function will not work as i'm out i will not able to post code as soon as i return i will post my working version.

sorry i'm out for vacation so not able to answer. single quotes are for jQuery and double to append dynamic id to function.

If you're using SQL server then to find sum of installments this query will work:
select SUM(Installment) from Installment_Master where EmployeeId=@eid AND NoOfInstallment>0
and to update table:
update Installment_Master set NoOfInstallment=NoOfInstallment-1 where EmployeeId=@eid
I think this will work for you.

what i'm try to tell you is that, in example you have given you said previous "advance" data is over written by new data, i'm saying can't you add new record for each new "advance" withdraw?
