the problem is partialview postback is not getting to the corresponding action(CreateNew), instead it takes to the parent view action (Index)

i got tis error 'The model item passed into the dictionary is of type 'System.Data.Linq.DataQuery`1[MvcMaster.Models.Mast_Lab]', but this dictionary requires a model item of type 'MvcMaster.Models.Mast_Lab' while returning all records for list, if i return single record then its working fine

Sharon, if you set autopostback to false then u have to change the way of getting the dropdown slected value....

use a try and catch blocks so that u can find exceptions if any , also go with breakpoint, u cant solve ur issue unless u know where the exact problem is....

I think i had clearly mentioned the values for value1 and value2:
Cmd.Parameters.Add("@value1", SqlDbType.datatype).Value = dropdownlist1.selectedvalue
Cmd.Parameters.Add("@value2", SqlDbType.datatype).Value = dropdownlist2.selectedvalue

its not a matter of excel files ,u can upload any files and store it in database , refine your sarch in google as upload and save files using asp.net, u will get lot of sources
