I am following exactly the same steps as U suggested in below link to create a windows service

[^]

build status message is "
CSS
------ Build started: Project: MyService, Configuration: Debug Any CPU ------
MyService -> C:\Users\artiy\Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\MyService\MyService\bin\Debug\MyService.exe
------ Starting pre-build validation for project 'MyServiceSetup' ------
------ Pre-build validation for project 'MyServiceSetup' completed ------
------ Build started: Project: MyServiceSetup, Configuration: Debug ------
Building file 'C:\Users\artiy\Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\MyService\MyServiceSetup\Debug\MyServiceSetup.msi'...
Packaging file 'MyService.exe'...
========== Build: 2 succeeded or up-to-date, 0 failed, 0 skipped ==========

"

But at last step I click on intasll in MyServiceSetup, it is giving me following error:

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2869".

Can you please help me in understanding why this error is coming and what am I doing wrong?

If you have a question about an article, why are you not asking in the article section?

1 solution

You will need to complete an 'administrative install' in order to complete the installation process.

Try http://www.jprog.com/wiki/How-do-I-resolve-Error-Code-2869-during-a-Windows-Vista-installation.ashx[^].

Hi thanks for your reply. I followed the steps as written in the link you suggested. After step no 4 when I pressed "ENTER" button. It opens a Windows installer window with all description in it. But I am not getting what should I do with this window?
