You should install .NET framework in client machine

At least, you have to tell us what that "not work properly on another machine" means. Does it not start at all? Do you get sme errors when running the program? What's the error message? etc.

Are you kidding?? How the hell are we supposed to answer this question considering you haven't given us ANYTHING AT ALL to work with??

We've got no details on the application, how it works, what it's supposed to be doing, what it is doing, what any error messages are, ..., ..., ..., NOTHING.

No, tiny difference. You have a problem with something and walk into a place to get help with it and just say "It's broken" and nothing else. You'll get the same response in either place.

Comparing it with an auto shop is a mistake.... They have to do fault finding... We don't... why?? Firstly we don't do their work for them and of course this is free non-profit advice not a learning centre such as MIT

No, it's not a mistake. Let me modify my analogy a bit using your last post. This guy walks into a repair shop, WITHOUT THE CAR (since we don't have physical access to his code!), and says "My car is broken." What are they going to do??

Having worked in and run service shops myself, I can see the obvious parallels quite easily.

Also, even if the repair shop has physical access to the car, this is no way means that they will find the problem that the customer is (not) talking about.

What we, and they, charge is completely irrelevant to the problem presented by the customers.
