Buttons are usually placed on the toolbar, which site below the title.

I have precisely the same need.

I found an approach that supposedly worked for earlier versions of Windows, but does not work for Windows 10. I don't think it works for 8, either.

Of course, googling "MFC create buttons on title bar" was the first thing I did, and how I found this article.
