This board uses HTML so you're seeing an artifact of how HTML works - consecutive spaces are collapsed into one space when rendered. Use the <pre> tag to override this:
4 space indent
6 space indent

Works only on IE. Doesn't work on FF - FF shows your pre snippet with zero indentation, Mike. For FF, use pre tags and then use for space

I remember this came up a few weeks ago, isn't that caused by a bug in the CSS that the forum uses?
Possibly - since I am sure FF renders pre tags correctly in normal cases.

|

Not the CSS - the HTML. CP has an unclosed font tag at the beginning of each message, and because of how FireFox deals with unclosed tags, and the styles in place on that specific tag, it breaks the behavior of <pre> in messages.
|

Firefox breaks because CP puts an unclosed <font> tag in the messages. To work around this, you can put a closing tag in yourself.
So,
this
indentation
works
in
firefox!

That's sweet
You could go the standard IT route and have your script automatically add it in as a workaround...

We only expect you to be chained to the servers during the week.

If you do not want to use <pre> tags as Mike suggested, then you can use for each space
4 spaces
8 spaces

Thanks to all (Mike, PJ, Nishant) for the suggestions - I have printed and will try them.
How about adding a "Space" button in the formatting tools?

Why don't we display a count of the number of downloads of the code/project associated with an article. And calculate popularity according to the number of downloads. Instead of giving more importance to user rating why don't we give more importance to popularity.

I'm guessing this has already been asked for...
I'd like to be able to subscribe to a specific article's comments message-board via RSS so that I can be informed when new questions and answers are posted.
It would certainly help to stay involved in the discussions going on about an article, as having to keep going to check the article for new posts is a real time consuming activity.

Can we have a download counter for the archives related to the articles?

I agree a download counter would be nice

Have the posts organized by subforms, but only allow users to post in the root forum and the posts get filtered automatically and/or manually into the subforums. This could filter out all the programming questions in the lounge.

For some reason, this ad (flash) doesn't appear in the big list 'o ads.
Also, on Firefox, clicking it brings me to this wonderful page...

Move mouse to bottom of screen, click the little "e" and then go to the page and re click on the ad. No need to make life harder than it needs to be!

Which is why i posted this thread, and then put thoughts of PDC out of my head.
(FWIW, it seems to be fixed now)

Can you add all the forums to the Drop Down List? Hardware for one is not listed, this means I have to go to say Soapbox and then click Hardware.
I getting old, am lazy and on top of all that Aussie, so extra work (like clicking and waiting) goes against my national image.

The hardware forum is in the drop down. Try hitting Ctrl+F5 - the old javascript include may have been cached on your system.
Don't worry, I'm looking out for the lads back home.

It's not there, what forum is listed directly above it? Just incase I'm suffering from male blindness.

Did that, done it again, still not there.

I still can't see it. It is in the Message Boards menu but not in the Combo box dropdown.
