Topic mode thread heads start out expanded, so they don't have links to expand them, and thus normally aren't ever recorded by the script as the "selected" post. But when the URL specifies one of 'em...
var Selected = "1427874";

humm, the same thing can be reproduced by clicking on [getlink] and then clicking on the reply post.

In the message view on any forum, when I scroll down to get a message subject in the middle of the screen, then click on it to open it, it jumps to the top of my screen (e.g. by clicking on a subject, the post is made the first displayed on the screen). This is most annoying. Is this a normal behaviour ?

I never noticed until just now.

I guess so.

Now that you've pointed it out....

The messages all have URLs that end in an anchor name (#xx123456xx ) and browsers will scroll that anchor to the top of the view window. (Well, FF and IE do, haven't tried any others)

If you browse messages, every expand adds up to browser history. This is annoying as if you want to go back the history (back button) is filled up (SeaMonkey 1.0b).
I remember long time ago (1 year?) in Codeproject browse history was not affected
by expanding messages?
Would it be possible to restore this behavior, or it is a client side issue?

each message that is clicked is actually a anchor link that is navigated to. So since its a link it adds to the browser history.
I dont know if there is any browser where you can turn off anchors to be added to the history.

Replying me does not notify the original poster or other people in the thread.

By allowing the browser to navigate to the anchor, the message is brought on-screen. This was turned off for a while.
There are other ways to accomplish the same result, perhaps Chris is investigating them...

Thank you. Would be nice if this can be changed.
Also in current implementation the selected message is brought on screen,
but is not expanded, if the url comes from browser history or bookmark.
If the url comes from email link the message is expanded though

Interestingly I did get this notification....
Chris Maunder wrote: Have you checked your spam filters
Spam filters are full of Spam - no CP messages in there.
Chris Maunder wrote: added us to your whitelists
I don't think GMail has whitelists. It doesn't delete anything anyway - just moves some stuff to spam for a month.

Not tried that one! I'm a bit suspicious of the science behind it - but if the problem persists I may make an attempt.

This is one part of GMail that I don't like. I have a rule where if the subject contains "[CodeProject]" then archive the email and apply the label "CP". The trouble is, occasionally a notification will be treated as spam. Even though the email matched my rule - which should indicate that I want it delivered - it still ends up in the spam bin.
Also, notifications usually get delayed on Mondays while the mail servers send out the newsletter.

Well the problem with delete cookies is that it deletes the cookies of other sites too. And normally there is no time to search out which cookie belong to which site.
