Actually, the reasoning behind Microsoft's use of SOAP and XML in their Web Service idea was to provide access to all. You see, any SOAP client can access and consume a web service. So a UNIX or MacOS client could access the proposed CP Web Service if someone developed an app for them. In MSDN articles on Web Services, they specifically state that Web Services can be used by clients on other platforms as long as they use SOAP. Hey, you could even use straight HTTP to access a Web Service, as shown when you visit an asmx file. It gives code as to how to consume a Web Service using SOAP or HTTP.

Just wanted to clear up a little misconception that I have seen in many places...Smile | :)
