Chris, what about a forum where I can submit code/design diagrams/specs for a CP peer review?
That'll be really awesome, also don't know of any other site that does this.
Cheers,
Simon

Just an idea for convenience in the forums,
Would it be possible when someone included a link like
http://www.vmtu.com to have it automatically converted to
[link in new window]
As I'm always having to type in the anchor tag stuff by hand.

Good suggestion! I keep forgetting how to force that, so I've been using the View/Source option to look at the raw html. Now I've just discovered that I can't do that! The Source option is greyed out on the View menu
I didn't change anything - did Chris?

Must be something on your end, it works fine for me.
And BTW the "new window" is done by putting target="_blank" in the <a> tag.

It was just IE screwing up again - nothing new. Restarting it restored the option.

Check that you have a default HTML editor in your Internet Options-> Programs dialog.
I have had this get mucked up before by adding webbands etc.

I've suggested this before. It *would* be very useful but I'm sure that its quite complicated to do. Have you looked into it Chris? If you have problems implementing it there are many people willing to help

It's really, really simple for me to implement if someone can spend the time to work out the regular expression to use that will trap URL's. Basically it will have to match
[http://|https://]aaa.bbb[.ccc[...[zzz]]][/path_1/.../path_n]/file.[xyz][?...]
where stuff in []'s is optional, and | = or. Matching http://www.xyz.com/dir/file.asp is simple and the querystring on the end is a slight inconvenience. The final piece of the puzzle is that the expression needs to take into account whether or not the URL found is already wrapped in a <a href...> tag.
For me, writing regular expressions is as fun as a dentist's appointment.

How do you do regular expressions in ASP?

A regexp to match the URL format would be pretty easy, methinks. As long as you don't care about pulling out each part between slashes, which you don't in this case.
https?://[a-zA-Z0-9-\.]+(/[^/\s]*)*
That's Perl syntax, so just shout if it's unfamiliar The only drawback I see is that that regexp allows something like http://www.foo.com/path/// with consecutive slashes, which isn't a valid URL, but hopefully that's not a showstopper.

Hello Chris M
Here is a new suggestion for the demographics page.
Top 10 thread starters. So we know who has started most number of threads.
Warm regards

Well, I don't really start that many threads. Not sure how I compare with the others. I think it will be a good demographic addition for Chris M. Though I'll probably have to help him with the nested SQL. He is not very good at nested SQL and often I have to help him out.

Is there a possibility for these forums be also discussion groups? So we can subscribe to some forums and get the messages by email and also reply to messages, just like Yahoo! groups?
Or is this feature already availabale and I cannot turn it on?
Thanks
Best regards,

It has been suggested before, but it would increase the server loads and bandwith usage to a point where CodeProject would probably collaspse under the weight.

I thought that under the General menu on the left there could be a section for Console Programming. I know that it's not the main focus of this site but I myself still write a lot of console based programs... just faster to develop for certain problems [Please forgive my spelling... I was out way too late last nite!!! ]
