It looked like my Internet Connection dropped off in the afternoon. When I tried voting a message, it showed 'Voting ' for a long time and then says 'Unknown'. I think this error is too cryptic and can be made more user-friendly like 'The vote can not be registered now '.

For some reason when I go to thecodeproject.com the website won't load and I get an error. Has my IP address been blocked? If so, why?
The site still works from a proxy and this is a brilliant resource website and I really want to use it again.

www.thecodeproject.com[^] should work, as should thecodeproject.com[^]
Try www.codeproject.com[^] instead if you still have problems.
BUT: if you would like to help then open a command window (cmd.exe) and type "tracert thecodeproject.com" and send me (chris at codeproject.com) the results so I can see if it's a DNS issue

I am unable to open or view any article. Clicking on Articles->Latest and then clicking on the article I want (any article) is giving a page not found error, with a most likely location suggestion. Again, the suggested link is not working. Is that just me?

I can't quite figure out what it does or the point of it, I'm guessing it's somehow related to voting?
What I would like is to have a feature where I can turn off any visible signs of voting in message boards so all the messages look equally the same colour.
(What I would like even more than that is to have the entire voting on messages abolished, it's divisive, pointless and annoying and leads to silliness like the Univoter but I know that will never happen.)

I beleive it only affects what score is used to determine if something is grayed. "High" only greys with a score below 2, I'm not sure if very high turns it off entirely or just lowers the threshold to an intermediate level. This really does need documented better though.
Otherwise [Microsoft is] toast in the long term no matter how much money they've got. They would be already if the Linux community didn't have it's head so firmly up it's own command line buffer that it looks like taking 15 years to find the desktop.

I don't know what it means, but whatever it means, I suggest they put up a tooltip explaining it.

Ok, I see it, I have to be honest I'm a little confused after reading it though. What it says and what the drop down says seem to be counterintuitive. I'll experiment with it.

Ahh..ok I finally get it, can I request a potential new setting "Infinite"? This would short circuit some processing at the server and give people who don't like the voting system the option of not seeing it's effects at all.

Chris,
thanks for putting up with all the geeks.
Would there be enough interest to have "Registry forum"?

I have a few observations with respect to the forum FAQ link (http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/FAQ.aspx[^]).
1) The very first opening sentence "Click on the 'New Thread' " seems to be incorrect. Currently it reads as 'New Message ' and not Thread.
2) We can also give a link to Forum Posting Guidelines here. Currently the mostly commonly referred comprehensive guideline set is http://www.codeproject.com/scrapbook/forumguidelines.asp[^].

I feel that the smiley link for messages (http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/emoticons.aspx[^]) is kind of redundant.
I would suggest that the existing smiley set below the formatting buttons display the most commonly used smileys along with a More button similar to that of Microsoft Word Toolbar. When the user presses the button, the smiley DIV should be expanded to contain all other smileys contained in the emoticon page.
And the keyboard shortcuts for the smileys can displayed as a Windows Tooltip.
The current emoticon page can be used as a simple table guide on the smileys along with a breif description.

Can the message posting textbox be also given with bullet list facility? Most of the rich text editors come up with Number Bulleting or Unordered Bulleting.
This would greatly help in numbering the points automatically instead of we typing the numbering each point in a typical message.

We don't have a rich text editor for message postings.

You mean like:

Item two
Item three
