No, that's only for messages. Reporting articles doesn't affect it's rating. We get a lot of 'I can't get the code to work' and 'Can you do my homework' messages in the Reporting system so we need to protect against that.

I'll add this to the TODO. We've got a 'suspended' status that we can use for this.
Also: the bug fix to allow authors to edit pending articles will be uploaded today or tomorrow.

Thanks! You might also think about having a "Article suspended by author" page similar to the "Page not found" page, so people will know why the article won't display. This assumes that the article will still be visible on chapter lists and searches.

Forgot to mention that we've added the ability to mark an item as 'In progress' so that it won't appear on the main site until it's ready

Hi ya
I'm working on an article about yet another CListCtrl
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/list/CGridCtrlEx.aspx
I'm planning a series of articles, where I would discuss the different abilities of the CListCtrl. Some of the articles at codeproject covers some but not all corners about each topic (Tooltips, Sorting, Cell-navigation, etc.).
I had expected that I could create these articles, and work with them over a period of time before actually sending them to evaluation and to be published.
Now I see that my first draft has been sent for evaluation, and at the same time I have no option to modify the draft article.
- How do I mark an article that it is still in progress ?
- How do I modify an article under evaluation. It says there should be a "Modify" link i the top right corner, but I cannot see it ? (Using Firefox 2.0.0.14)
Thank you in advance
-Rolf
Btw. Good work with moving all the List Control articles from Combo & List Boxes to their proper location.

This is an excellent point. If there is in fact no way to modify an article under review, IMHO this should be fixed immediately. Otherwise, what would be the point of sending the review comments?

Thank you for approving my article, so it could be edited. I have stored the article locally and deleted it, since I prefer to have the complete article before publishing it.
Thank you for your help

There should be the Modify link at the top right. Previouly there wasn't but that bug should have been fixed 3 days ago. I'll double check and see what's going on.

It seems to me that some articles get '1' votes unfairly. Just an opinion, OK? When I see an article with a bunch of 5s, a few 1s and nothing in between (and no comments), it makes me wonder.
I SUSPECT that some members cast a lot of '1' votes for "less than honorable" reasons. Possibly out of spite or to lower the average relative to their own articles. I don't have any hard evidence, just a suspicion, but I wonder if anybody else has the same suspicion.
Does (or could) CodeProject attempt to detect members who vote mostly 1s? Maybe review some of the articles these people are voting on to see if there is any apparent justification or explanation? Maybe send them a gentle message suggesting they provide a comment when voting 1 on an article so the author can do better next time?

The problem is, who's going to police/moderate that? That's a big job, considering the number of articles that are already posted on CP.
I think every one of my articles have been 1-voted for other than justifiable reasons.

I think the voiting graphs help. When you see a scooped out shape to the graph, lots of 5s, a few 4s, and the rest 2s and 1s (probably more 1s than 2s), it speaks for itself, i.e. the article has been recognized as having a lot of qualities by many members, but a few disgruntled or jealous voters have voted 1 out of spite.
I suppose you could give them a benefit of a doubt and say that they may have voted honestly, but in some cases only a jerk would vote 1 for an article that is obvioulsy good.

It was set to 'Last Week'
I'm not sure when that happened, or why i temporarily got to see all the messages but there we have it.

The "Lava Lamp" link on top is spelled wrong, and capitalization is weird.

Chris,
This person's message is not appropriate for the Lounge. What he is saying in Arabic " I wish you were next to me " ^
Under the context of the discussion, lately he has been making a fuss about increasing his posting. He would take on any one who replied to his post in meaningless replies. I was going to post a message for everyone to ignore him when someone post just that. I replied by stating to the OP "they beat me to that". This guy used Arabic to post "I wish you were next to me". I don't know what it means, but I don't think it is appropriate to threaten any one in CP forums.
I think threatening someone in English or any other language does not have any place in CP.

Threatening language should certainly not have any place on CP. Infact, i don't even know why people bother to use it over the internet at all.
Anyway, something is very odd about this guy. They reply to every message, almost without fail, and that is pretty much spam, and needs to be stopped.
I was on a forum a while back where new member where limited to how many times they could post per hour based on their ranking. Although the ranking was dictated by time, moderators could temporarily reinstate the posting limit, it worked out OK, there wasn't much spam because peole saved their posts for the good replies. Might be a little harsh though.
Then again, if the limit where only applied in the Lounge...
