Several suggestions about bookmarking articles:
1. When someone bookmarks an article, the author of article gets notified. The notification may also include name of the member who bookmarked the article.
2. When an article gets updated notify anyone who has bookmarked it. It would be also nice if it were possible to subscribe for other articles update.
3. In the statistics of an article show how many people have the article in their bookmarks.
What do you think?

1. Will mean serious spam for popular authors, plus I'm not sure of the value.
2. Working on it
3. Already in our wishlist

If #1 would be a valuable metric for authors, just display it in the article page itself.

He did not even make an effort to cover his identity. In his SB thread "girls" he makes a direct reference to the SB thread I wanted removed for obvious reasons. Please re-ban, or remove any posts he makes using my name.

I couldn't agree more. Whats the point in banning him and letting him come straight back?
I know, I know, theres no way to automatically stop this behaviour, but manual intervention is, unfortunately, required in this case

There may be legal problems with deleting a user name other than the one that violated the terms and conditions. However, he has obviously violated the terms again.

No, there's not. Ever seen those "Management reserve the right to refuse entry" signs on bars? Same applies. It's Chris et al's site and they can allow/ban whomever they see fit.

I've gone through the thread and while he made reference to the thread he did it in an explanatory way and wasn't specifically targeting you or trying to raise the topic again.
I can reban and block IPs and he can simply create a new account via a new IP. Let's just sit back and let the dust settle for a bit - it's way too nice a day for me to be playing whack-a-mole.
Frankly, norm.net is throwing around as much trash as DMX in that thread. They both need to chill.

True, but it makes life a bit harder for him.
What was the point in banning him if he's alowed back without even a cursory attempt at keeping him out? It makes a mockery of you.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "not even a cursory attempt". A deleted account and a blocked IP address aren't cursory and frankly I do not have time today to spend deleting every new account he creates.

Seems someone is upset you're asking for a little respect on the forum. Luckily, my 5 votes have about 4x the weight of those 1 votes.

I know I have doled it out and I will take it back IF IT IS WITHIN REASON. The thread got removed for obvious reasons. I really didn't care that he got banned. (See blog.) But if you are going to ban someone, ban them. But at the end of the day is I don't want the title of that thread being archived by Google. Plus if anyone sees it then another post appears asking about what happened. Now he's posting to my pleas in SB to have the post removed and now he's trying to get me riled again. Exactly where is the line of harassment and stalking?

I almost put this in my previous post, but what you've said makes it much more relevant -
Chris, the way leckey, one of the few women here, is being treated is simply unacceptable. It certainly does seem like stalking to me and it's gone beyond inappropriate.

As I said, keep in mind I've said my share of nasty things. I heard "I hope I never get on your bad side" more than once. I hate being singled out as a woman, or looking like I can't hold my own. (Not that I do not appreciate your comments.) I say, just cut the one I hate and monitor his behavior. If he continues harrassing me, then look at banning when necessary. I don't want to make tons of work for the CP team.

I haven't followed any of this to the soapbox. But if you feel you're being harrassed, or feel threatened, then I would print out the messages and contact your local police department. It's more than what Chris and staff can help you with. Your police can/will contact the local authorities in his jusidiction, talk to him and maybe that would end it.
Again, I don't know much of what you're saying but since it's internet related, the FBI can also be contacted with complaints of harrasement, etc.
Don't let it get to you. It's just some creep on a keyboard somewhere. But if it makes you feel better and secure, shout out to the proper authorities.

IMHO, he went over the line a long time ago and he won't stop as long as he's allowed to get away with it. AFAIK, you are the first woman who has posted in SB more than once or twice. It seems that makes you fair game for every sick fantasy he's ever had.

Oh, I understand he's sick. At one point it was fun to play with, now it's somewhat scary. I hate being singled out for being a girl, but I think it's because of that why I'm in the cross-hairs of his fantasies. Again, when is it really harassment or stalking? Today I recorded three others that he blatently called names. When is it abuse? The Terms and Conditions can be very grey.

I don't mean this to come across as cold or non-caring, but Chris and his company aren't in the business of litigation. Like I stated in my previous post, contact authorities. You shouldn't feel scared or harrassed by any means. Don't worry about the others he called names. That's not your problem or concern. Address your problem and only yours.
|
|
|
|
|
I totally get what you are saying and I don't feel it was cold or anything like that. I'm just going to see what happens over the next few days. The individual in question has shown a lack of intelligence so I don't think he's going to quit his fry job and try to follow me. He doesn't even bother me on my own blog, because he's so desperate for an audience. But I will have my guard up.
|
|
|
|
|
I just wanted to make sure you didn't think my comments were cold and un-caring. I care, so I try to help.
I've read the individuals posts. Some seemed fine, others were way out there. Bigotry (opinions) is one thing (personal opinion and we're all entitled to it), but violence and/or intimidation is another.
Just don't think that keeping your guard up is good enough. You never know the extent of what some whack-o jobs will go through. That's why I feel that if you're keeping your guard up, you need to have some support if there's ever a problem. As you probably know, there's a big difference between having something documented and having nothing at all.
