Instead of a blacklist or whitelist, how about just a filter.

While reporting a message (which also does an implicit one-voting), can it be extended to take a simple one line reason from the user. I believe currently, it takes a standard reason like 'UNSUITABLE in the forum'.
Even though it is a flag for administrator, it would be helpful if there is a quick one-line reason like 'ABUSIVE MESSAGE', 'DUMB THREAD', 'WRONG CATEGORY', 'TROLL'.

We had "Abuse" and "Spam" but the general consensus (and one I agreed with) was that this was pointless so this was removed.

We're currently allowed to retort an article multiple times. I can report an article from home, and then come in to work and report it again. Shouldn't we only be allowed to report it once?

Reports for a single article are collated into a single report (with each report appended to the previous). Multiple reports aren't an issue - we investigate every report on it's own merit

Ahh, okay. I can't remember all the ones I report, and I'd prefer not to do them twice. Is there a way to let us know if we've already reported an article?

That would be useful.

Might be an idea to have the voting integrated into the posting of a comment so you have to post a comment in order to vote - I don't see that "uncommented" votes really help anyone?

Neither do comments of "asdf", which is typically what we would get.
I'm more and more leaning towards giving it a trial shot, though.

Even with the daily reminders?

While you're thinking about it, consider adding a popup like this:
You have just voted 1 (or whatever).
Would you like to leave a comment?
Would it be ok if we sent your member ID to the article author?
Please click OK to submit your vote.
This of course is for article voting, but it might give a fright to the 1 voters.

Hi Chris & co,
It seems that there is a problem with the article filter when you search for an article. When you specify C++ developer (for example), a lot of C++ articles are removed from the results. Take for example your grid control: if I set the filter to C++ Developer, then it doesn't appear in the list anymore.
It seems that the filter works only for recent articles.

There is a built in 'NOT' operator that is getting prefixed, perhaps.

I just have posted an article and on preview page it looks alright, but when I published it, a mysterious horizontal scroll bar appeared. No matter how much I stretch the window I always have to scroll 20-30 pixels on right side to see whole article. The article hasn't been approved yet and it would be nice if someone can fix it before it gets published. Thanks

Mostly, when you see programmers, they aren't doing anything. One of the attractive things about programmers is that you cannot tell whether or not they are working simply by looking at them. Very often they're sitting there seemingly drinking coffee and gossiping, or just staring into space. What the programmer is trying to do is get a handle on all the individual and unrelated ideas that are scampering around in his head. (Charles M Strauss)

I had a crack at fixing the scrolling but something funky is going on. HAve asked Sean to take a look at it first thing in the morning.

In the page that list the various bookmarks, when I click the trash icon, it pops up a confirmation. When I click 'YES', it posts back and then removes it. I was trying to see, if instead of postback, a simple coloring effect and an AJAX based delete like in Wordpress dashboard for blog post/comments listings would be more cool right?

I just observed the new 'Watch' option at the top of the forums. But when I clicked the URL first time, it works fine. When the page reloads, it again shows 'WATCH'. If I press it again, it says 'Already Watched'. I would suggest two options:
If the item is watched, this text can change to 'Remove from Watch List'. This would save an unnecessary validation and an error message besides improving user-friendliness since you don't need to necessarily go to 'My CodeProject' page, search amongst your Watch items and un-watch an item.
P.S.: I didn't see any 'Unwatch' option in 'My CodeProject' page. Am I missing something? So 'Add to Watch' is currently like an irreversible option.

Those red X's.
And we'll improve it as we go on. Yes, we'll make it all Ajax-y.

I just observed a link called 'My CodeProject' and it has a cool section called Refresh. I just was playing around it and found two issues:
1) The validation exception displays if an invalid character is punched in to the textbox but the page also refreshes with the default value. I think the page refresh should not be allowed.
2) Also, if a large value is given through querystring, it accepts and feeds it to the textbox and my IE choke till I managed to reset to default value.
Otherwise, I feel that this is a very nice innovative page.
