Is it actually possible to bookmark a specific forum post/thread? When I bookmark posts/threads, it appears to work.. until the thread gets old and it moves onto page 2 or 3. The bookmark just loads up page 1. And then I cannot find my thread anymore.
Other forum websites I can bookmark threads/posts no problem and go back to them even when they are a couple of months old. But it appears we cannot properly bookmark threads in CodeProject....

Just to the right of the 'Reply' link is the 'bookmark' link on each post.

Oh, well, that looks okay.
But it only bookmarks within CodeProject profile.
I was thinking about bookmarking into my Firefox, IE, Google Bookmarks. The reason why is because I usually bookmark a collection of related posts... but from DIFFERENT forum websites.... hence the need for Firefox, IE, Google bookmarks...
The reason why we cannot bookmark (using IE/FF) a specific CodeProject posting is because the current URL only points to the main forum board... not the post... it does reference the post to expand... but the post could be on page 2, 3, or 100... and the URL only loads up page 1.
Is there any way to open a post/thread by itself,, in the main window? like how other forums do it?

The 'Permalink' will bring you directly to the message, and you can book that, and also check out the View Thread option.
Is there an example in another board you really like you can show me?

Thanks, now I think I know how to get to my ancient posts that I bookmarked using IE/FF...

Excellent feature though!!! I can't wait to see what it will be when it is finished and out of the beta.
Great job Chris (and the rest of CP staff )!!!

Perhaps it should be just for the use of the author?

It may be primarily useful for the author, but it can be considered another statistic similar to how many times an article has been bookmarked. The statistic can show another level of popularity/rating/etc.

I don't think views-per-day adds anything useful for anyone but the author - it certainly doesn't show "popularity" or have an indication of the rating the article has.

I've been updating an unpublished article (the checkbox that says not to publish the article is checked), and my updates suddenly stopped being added to the site this afternoon before I could finish it. What's going on?
The article is KB\WPF\CustomFrames.
Thanks.

Hi there, there is no competition for silverlight application?
why?

Competitions are a lot of work to organise so we're sticking, for the moment, to the main topics.

When you use the ASW for a new article and have a lot of files, you can use the back button and click on the Reset button, and then enter a new set of files. However, when you're updating an article, when you click the back button there is no Reset button. Please add it.

Hey Chris,
Instead of trying to detect if the browser is mobile and then redirecting to the mobile site, why not give us a fixed domain name? That way even if the browser user agent string changes you won't have to worry.
From my earlier post you must have seen that my phone's correctly detected, yet I get the regular webpage.

Chris,
I know this is your site and yours to do with as you please. I also know that I'm an a***hole at times, and not the best of members... but:
I think you need to introduce more regular checks on MVP status for those you give it to (and yes, if you want to, you can roll my status all the way back to bronze or below or just kick me out if you want to. I'm sure I've said more than enough to deserve it).
When MVP's such as Pete O' Hanlon, Marc Clifton, Sacha Barber and others (all excellent contributors to the site) are joined by the likes of this joker[^] it cheapens the whole award.
I might be being unfair, given his posts (or those that I can see) only go back to August - but some members certainly abuse privilege, and from the evidence of his posts I can only think this is so.
Cheers,
Martin Hughes
