Chris,
I realise now that I was wrong to single out Jamie for any special attention, and so withdraw my complaint against him.
However, I will email you privately with some concerns I have about certain attitudes which are manifesting themselves at CP. And God knows I'm as guilty of some of them as any here.
Cheers,
Ahoy!
Martin Hughes

And here I was thinking you were suggesting to Chris that all 2008 MVPs should get CodeProject logo'd Swiss watches!

Now that's a good idea - I could do with a new watch.

What a brilliant idea. My radio-control watch has just gone to the great clockworks in the sky. I'd wear a CP watch with pride.

I post 1 thing you dont like and you feel the need to post this rubbish.
Thanks. I feel real good about myself now. Go look how many actual answers ive given (many of which get 5 votes) and then compare it to your own contribution.

Jamie,
I apologise to you unreservedly for any upset I have caused you. It was uncalled for, unfair and completely unnecessary. On reflection I realise now that you took the brunt of a great deal of pent up frustration, which I had no right to slam you with.
Humbly yours,
Martin Hughes

Nice one Mr Hughes. A well deserved 5 for this.

// edit: I'll qualify that a bit for you. Ive had a really sh*t couple of months, and personally im not particularly happy ATM. Whilst you may have had some pent up anger, I got slamed when I was down. Remember that your "anonymous" actions over the internet can have a significant affect on the 3rd party.

0) MVP status is awarded for the previous year's contributions to the site. Anything done this year should have no bearing on last years award.
1) As far as I know, MVP is not based in any way on messages posted in the Lounge or Soapbox.
2) MVP status doesn't give you any extra privileges or power. All you get is a modified icon and a certificate (suitable for hanging).
I had thought that MVP status was more weighted toward article submissions for the year in question, but Jamie4c's one and only article was posted back in 2004.
For what it's worth, I don't think it would be proper to rescind MVP status unless the user in question did something truly abusive on the site. Just because he stirs folks up once in a while doesn't mean he's all of a sudden not a good programmer (which *is* why we're all here, right?). If that were the case, I wouldn't have MVP status either.

Well said. If people were denied MVP just because they stir things up, then you would never have...
Well, never mind.

But I think that's one of the main reasons I got MVP.

I just observed in http://lamp.codeproject.com/[^]. It is using the same survey as Main CodeProject in the homepage.
Shouldn't the sister websites be allowed to manage their own (site-specific) surveys?
