Nope, still broken for me. I got it in the Lounge again...

Groan!
Yeah it's back for me again. Yesterday must have been a fluke.

This[^] article seems to have been live since at least last April, but it's in the approval queue. Is this a bug or am I missing something about the approval process?

It might have been a caching remant you saw in the approval queue. It's not there now.

I would like to submit an article, in ASM, but I don't know which forum, chapter, area, ... to go to.
I have two ideas in mind, one is a solution for the GLAT trivial question #17, the other is based on permutation.

Sorry for the slow reply
The rule of thumb is to post the article in the correct Topic section. Maybe 'General Programming / Algorithms and Recipes'?

Giving me the empty message list, that is.
Same situation.
1. make post
2. hit edit on post
3. make edit and repost.
4. Change page
No messages!

I'd like to subscribe to an entire forum, so I get an email notification when a new thread is created, not necessarily all replies to it just on a new thread.
What do you think?

This is our TODO list.
Our only worry is email volume. As it is the servers are straining.

Didn't think of that, well I'm glad to hear it's in the works!

Can you put a limit on the number of emails per day per forum?
|
|
|
|
|
That's easy. Choosing where to draw the line isn't.
We can't just say "We'll only send 10,000 emails an hour, first in, best dressed".
There are options, though, such as saying you only get an email if you've visited that forum in the last N months.
Or I could sell a kidney and just buy a bunch of servers and some serious bandwidth. At least that wouldn't require as much debugging.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant limit per person per forum.

Just include a different token in each individual mail, and request the token be returned before you send the next mail. That will dramatically reduce the workload.

One thing that is a possibility, is only sending out an email for forum posts that have not had any responses in a certain period of time. However, this might also mean the posts could possibly be from forum spammers.

Would you like me to send 'Nessie - the Loch Ness Hamster' over to whip your guys into shape?
Could put off the necessity.

With Yahoo Groups you can also ask to have all new posts grouped in a daily mail. This could be a starter solution.
I don't read the newsletter because there are just too many articles (and also because I visit CP daily) but I would appreciate to have a daily summary.

I think the OP's idea was that he wanted notification of a new thread so he could run off and answer the question quickly thereby increasing the chances of becoming an MVP/maintaining MVP status.
My less cynical reasoning would be that it is to ensure that questions get answered quickly, thereby aiding those asking the questions.

Seriously beating Mika, Dave and some of the other people to the questions is really hard work .
Colin you really are a cynical bugger.

I didn't used to be this cynical. I only became this way after moving to Glasgow. While the folk here are very friendly (at least on the surface) I always get the impression there is an alterior motive.
