Pretty much most of the code posted on Code Project is Open Source in one way or another - but is Code Project itself Open Source? If not, are there plans afoot to make it so or do you have good commercial reasons not to make it so?
Just interested... well, not just interested  The reason I ask is that there are some really cracker-jack programmers (ie people who aren't me) who post articles and whatnot. I wonder if some of them might want to contribute - in an Open Source way - to the code and perhaps implement features that don't currently exist. Things like a sophisticated automated forum monitoring system that would get rid of the "Plz send me the codez for x" or articles that are just the template and/or don't meet required standards - that kind of thing, or even new features which don't yet exist but when they're put in place, you wonder how you ever managed without them.

I think it's a great idea but worry about things like trying to keep all the code consistent and safe, trying to get a handle on merges and reviews, and also trying to ensure that what someone contributes is actually something they own (ie someone doesn't simply lift a bunch of code from DotNetNuke and splice it into the CodeProject code)
What I am trying to open time up for is an API that will allow widget or smartclient apps to be written against the datastore.

Those would certainly be big worries, plus add in the possibility of ne'er-do-wells writing malicious code and, well, 
Going Open Source, I think, would be a massive undertaking - there are so many issues that need to be fully understood before contemplating a switch - and would cost a huge amount to do both in terms of cash-money and other resources (time would be a biggy). Also you'd have to factor in business needs, what you'd hope to achieve by going Open Source and whether or not you'd see a return - fiscal or otherwise - by moving. Even planning to think about planning to go Open Source would eat a lot of time - and after that you might even draw the conclusion that it isn't the right strategy after all!
It's an interesting topic, though. I've recently being looking into a lot of Java stuff and from that I've been exposed to the Java Community Process and to a lesser extent how companies like SpringSource work. The JSR process, although perhaps not a fit for CodeProject (support products vs. free services), is quite interesting to see (if you like looking at business processes ) as you can see the entire process from requirements to approval to specification and finally to adoption. Not many business processes are that transparent.

I've just updated some stuff in "My Settings" and I get this strange error "Your password contained text that was not compatible with our system such as script or server directives.". It contains nothing of the no such which!!
And it would appear that my updated didn't work as I still have my old signature

Can you please experiment and find a password that (obviously) isn't the one you want to use but still causes problems and then email it to me at chris at cp.cpom?

Most of you would have observed that in GoogleMail near the footer, it would display login activity and also concurrent sessions. There is also a feature to kill any particular session.
Can something be brought in a similar way for CP too?

I like to leave random computers (in hospitals, public libraries, old folks homes) with pages open to CP under my login. Generally, this works out well - i get a higher post count, random people get to experience the Joy of CP - but, occasionally, someone will start posting things that just don't meet the high standard for unfocused rambling observations that i've set for this user name. In those scenarios, it would be handy for me - and therefore, beneficial to the site as a whole, if i could remotely log off of a particular session.

When I attempt to signon to CP from homepage header strip; ensuring that 'Remember' checkbox is unselected and when I inadvertantly succumb down to a 'Failed Logon', CP again shows the username and password screen with the 'Remember Me' checkbox selected again.
The 'Remember Me' feature is little scary particularly when logging on from a shared computer/internet kiosk.
