Are you sure they weren't direct emails using the 'Email' link? These send emails to you and do not appear in the forums themselves

Ahaa! my bad. My eyes fly the top of the email and go direct to the message.
Forum email has this on the top
An answer has been posted to your message at <insert forum name>
and Direct email contains
This is a direct email response to your message on the page <insert forum name>.<br />
This message has not appeared on the discussion board for that page.
Sorry for the inconvenience. You are right, they were direct emails. Better read the whole email next time.
p.s. I sent you an email couple days back about my alias. Did you get chance to look at it.
Yusuf
Oh didn't you notice, analogous to square roots, they recently introduced rectangular, circular, and diamond roots to determine the size of the corresponding shapes when given the area. Luc Pattyn[^]

Got it, haven't had a chance to do anything yet. Sorry.

It's finally fixed?
If you don't mind my asking, what was broken?
Today's lesson is brought to you by the word "niggardly". Remember kids, don't attribute to racism what can be explained by Scandinavian language roots.

Some old code from the beta testing days was left in that was acting as a safety switch to ensure that beta testers would not inadvertantly involve non-beta testers was being a little too keen on stopping emails go through in that it could not be convinced we were out of beta testing.
A large angle grinder removed that particular bur.

Just in case that wasn't clear...
A few times I answer a question on the C++ forum with something like:
----
I found an article that does exactly what you want, look at:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/buttons/GdipButton.aspx[^]
----
As you see, the text of the hyperlink has been set to be the same as the URL. I then had to go and cut and paste the title of the article in instead. This strikes me as easily automatable.
if (linktext.Starts ("http://www.codeproject.com/KB"))
linktext = LookupTitle (linktext)
Not real code obviously...
I'm struggling to think of a time the raw cp URL is useful. This could also be a good idea for linking to forum posts.
Keep up the good work,
Iain.

You've had 15minutes. Surely you're done by *now*?
Sheesh, I think I'll demand my money back...

Any chance you can add a link on a member's page that shows all posts of a users to one of their threads and vice-versa (cross-reference threads)? I'm trying to find a post of mine to someone from a while back and thought it might be useful. Thanks!

Not exactly sure what you mean. Can you provide an example?

A link on your profile would show all messages of yours that I replied to and all messages of mine that you replied to.
Didn't expect a quick reply.

Ah. I geddit. A little slow tonight.
Interesting idea. We'd have to see what kind of load that put on the system but it should be do-able.

Neat-o, thanks. I'm starting to use the message bookmark option now for short-term needs (hasn't worked ever until this year for some reason, or I was completely blind so far). However, for long term, I want it clean and can generally remember the person I was chatting with, but not the exact phrase for searching.

The other option would be to list all member x-refs per member (i.e., one link per member). I can see this as being problematic for oldies and trolls.

I know it's fun for Canuks to wind up Yanks but if there was a different default country (sayyy... Mongo) then it would be easier to tell which authors of really c**p articles haven't even bothered to fill in their profiles. No reason to blame the US for all of it!

We do try and set the country via a geolocation service initially but they are notoriously inaccurate. We also spotted a bug with this last week that we'll be fixing this week.

CP is almost unreadable in Linux with FF browser. See[^] this screenshot. I have tried other websites and it is showing the font correctly.

I must be missing something totally obvious here but unfortunately I'm not sure which bit is 'unreadable'. Is it the density of the bold font that's the issue?

I was talking about the font smoothness. I have installed Microsoft font pack for Linux and it looks OK now. Sorry for troubling you.
