Within the FORUMS frame(on the left side), the 'Quick Answers' text does not become bold even though users are adding questions almost continuously.
There are only 10 types of people in this world — those who understand binary, and those who don't. |

The Quick Answers link is not meant to be there and will be removed in a few minutes.

I stumbled upon a "Tip and Trick" with some not so fantastic code (about identifying a PC), and tried to suggest some improvements by adding a few comment lines, not actually changing anything.
The net result is my name now is the only one showing anywhere near that piece of ***** and apparently there is nothing I can do about it. I strongly protest. I will never again touch a QA or TT that isn't mine until this gets completely fixed.
Several bugs got identified in this little misadventure:
bug1: the "T&T" should be marked "created by XYZ1, last edited by XYZ2" and obviously XYZ1 should never change.
[ADDED] seems it does that already, the layout is confusing; a vertical line between the "posted" column and the "edited" column would be good; also the original author's name should be shown using a larger and bolder font.[/ADDED]
bug2: on the versions page, all versions should show their author, so one can track who has touched it.
bug3: a rollback does not roll back completely, all it does is forget the changes to the content; it does not undo the new version nor the associated author.
bug4: I don't recall the exact title, I did not copy the URL, and as a result I don't know how I could ever reach that page again.
[ADDED]
Accidentally found it again here[^].

Sorry for the late reply. Been having too much fun on the break
bug1: We'll try and improve the UI around this. You're right the author should definitely be more emphasized than the editor.
bug2: Already on the todo list.
bug3: The rollback simply reverts the post's content, title and tags to the respective version. The member who performed the rollback is the last editor. This way we never lose information on how the post has changed state.
bug4: I'll talk this over with the team on how we could expose tips/tricks you've edited.

This answer[^] was posted to a thread, created by this person[^].
Now, it's all messed up into another completely different thread! Take out the whiplash and do the needful.

Hi Rajesh,
I think that this problem occurred after I posted my answer to this[^] question. I'm very sorry for the mess.
I've reported the problem and the possible cause. See my post below.
My apologies again.

Ah! I must have read that bug report of yours before I made mine.
Never mind, you've probably discovered a new bug in the system and the hamsters will be crushing it anytime soon.

I've just posted an answer to this[^] question but my answer have mixed with the previous thread.
As a result the two threads have combined under one question and my answer has totally changed.
I'm unable to edit or delete my answer.
I'm using Firefox 3.5.6.

I think that I found the problem but I'm unable to edit my answer.
For MSDN citation I've used:
"<span class='emphasis' style='background-color:#DDFFDD'> citation here... </span>"
But inspecting the page source I found an error in my post:
"<span class='emphasis' style='background-color:#DDFFDD> citation here... </span>" - the closing apostrophe after #DDFFDD was missing.
So I think that this could be the source of the problem.
I'll never use span again!

You should only use the tags that the on-page editor gives you.

When I go to the CP homepage and scroll down to the latest 10 articles, I can mouse over it and add the latest 10 articles as a web slice in IE8. However, it works differently on my different computers. On some, it has the desirable behavior of me clicking on it (in my IE toolbar) and it displaying the latest articles for me to click on. However, on my current computer, it just opens with 3 options:
- Latest Articles
- Open all items (0 new)
- Mark all as read
That last option is always grayed out. This probably has something to do with settings on my computer, but I wasn't really sure what was going on, so I thought I'd let you all know about it.

I can see "My own question" icon next to all the answers that I have given. In this[^] page. Is it a normal behavior?

I checked my question's page and noticed the same thing .
Nice catch. Bug bug bug.....

Yep a bit redundant on that page. I'll add it to the bug list.
Thanks!

I also have the same icon in my Answers area...

I'm seeing it appear twice in the sidebar on the left, not 100% of the time though, about half of the time (using Firefox 3.5.6)

Have you hit the booze again? All looks fine with FF3.0

No booze
I'd like to keep my braincells
Do you still not get 2 if you refresh a couple of times?
|
|
|
|

dry braincells are no good either, you know.
No, there isn't anything showing twice...
