Seems like the legend has switched from the right side to the left.
Was this intended? Because it looks a bit weird on new members

As addition, my reputation graphic got zoomed out (now it is difficult to read the legends)

putting the legend inside the graph allowed for a larger graph, which most of the time results in a much clearer view of the rep evolution.

IMO turning the legend's background to white, instead of transparent, could improve such graphs.

That would solve the issue of New members' graphs[^].
White looked so boring though. How about something off-white?

which off-white do you have in mind?
the alternative would be to fiddle with the vertical scale:
- pick the total reputation at 30 or 50% of the x-axis (i.e. just to the right of the legend)
- set twice that as the minimum for the rep range (so in the first 30/50% of the graph the top half is free for the legend).
For most people, that would not affect things; people having a very flat reputation graph would see the
graph somewhat compressed. It would fail if and only if rep went up, then strongly went down again.

Unfortunately I spent my break alternatively popping cold and flu medication and painting my bathroom (an excellent combination: fumes and medication) so in my head I have "burnt snow", "persephone mist", "pasturised almond" and whatever ridiculous names paint manufacturers come up with for their colours. How about tooltip yellow?
What if the graph were top center? Or - what if it were top or bottom and laid out horizontally?

How about making the graph fit the user's browser window width? Is that possible?
Or maybe make the graph a silverlight control.
Another note: I don't think the month needs to be included in the legend since the grid lines only show year delineations.

The graph is an image, so doesn't stretch. However, if we can get it to render as Flash then we have some possibilities.
Silverlight would be interesting, but Flash is still more common.

Maybe you could hold a contest for both a silverlight and a flash solution - let the guys that use the site do some of the work.
In fact, you could even then put a setting in the user profile where we could select whether we wanted flash, silverlight, or standard html stuff for special site features.

I only read code that is properly formatted, adding PRE tags is the easiest way to obtain that. [The QA section does it automatically now, I hope we soon get it on regular forums as well]

Why can't you just draw the legend outside of the graph (the image size should be increased in which case). Or, the legend can be a separate, image "outside" (to the right of?) the actual graph, because it is static and isn't going to change at all.

That is how all this started in the first place.
You won't get a large graph, somewhere out there still is a CP veteran with a 640*480 monitor.
Lets keep things simple, it is fine the way it is; the legend having an offwhiteish background
would be more than adequate to solve whatever small problem is left. There must be more important matters around.

As I see it, the reputation graph is 750 * 350 pixels for everybody, with the x-axis going from day of signing up till today, and the y-axis going from 0 to your current total reputation value. Nothing gets zoomed or stretched, it is a simple autoscaling.

At that moment I was seeing some rep. graphs ok, and other (including mine) were half sized. But it now is ok another time.

The page header shows "Msgs 1 to 50 of 285,422 (Total in Forum: 285,422) (Refresh)" but only two messages other than the sticky pair are displayed. Hope you have a backup!
