That's not really reasonable. If they did that, the whole site would be peppered with "hold on, we're recalculating" messages. The site is a livinhg thing and updates are happening on a continuous basis (most of the time, without us being any the wiser)..45 ACP - because shooting twice is just silly ----- "Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997 ----- "The staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - J. I don't think he meant to show the message all over the site.
Might be just on the Reputation chart, (after loading icon)...a message is shown if such thing is happening. Few might know and understand but new people might report on continuous basis that something is wrong! (but only if this happens quite often! which i think won't! ) ... so aal izz well

My point is, every time CP people will be post the messages(Reputation chart bug) in "Site Bugs / Suggestions" like me while recalculation. Till date i have seen the recalculation 4 times. so that's why i was posted that suggestion. thanks john.

maybe the better suggestion is to keep the existing data alive until the new data is available, then replace old by new in a snap. That may mean creating new tables in the database, then rename some.

Chris is aware of this thing. I had reported the same earlier.
Script for calculating reputation is still running. Lets wait and see the final thing.

Yes. ! It Looks Updating.

Issue still persists!

As per Chris, Competition winner points have been moved to 'Author'. Check there, does it look like reflecting? Mine not.
|
|
|
|
|
I don't think so, I can account for each of my author points without any competition wins being involved.
I did discover votes 4 and 5 are considered "up-votes", 1 and 2 "down-votes" and 3 gets completely ignored.

It would be little difficult to count, but will give it a try sometime!

Why did you edit my tip, and what exactly did you change?
The tip in question: Windows Service Gotcha[^]

Looks like small formatting updates. Names of files wrapped in EM instead of CODE tags etc.
I think she's just trying to make your work even more perfect.cheers,

I don't even use EM tags. I wonder how they got there to begin with...

One wouldn't think that was possible. .45 ACP - because shooting twice is just silly ----- "Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997 ----- "The staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - J. Use the version compare feature to see what was changed. I took a quick look and she changed some minor things like :
windows to Windows
.Net to .NET
They are both valid though pedantic corrections

Hi John,
I hope you are aware Chris & Co have meticulously chosen Deeksha to edit your tip; as you can read here[^], she enjoys doing that to you:

I deleted an original post, and then deleted the answer to it, and got this error:
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.. Ticket: 2144851. Server: Web17
EDIT ================
The problem is that the Delete link remains on the page even after the original message has been deleted..45 ACP - because shooting twice is just silly ----- "Why don't you tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt, 1997 ----- "The staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - J. If you provide an answer to a Quick Question, and the OP does not fully understand, or needs to ask a question, we need some mechanism by which you can be notified. At present I have had a few cases where they post an answer (either accidentally thinking it would reach me, or as the only mechanism they could find) trying to get further information. It wasn't until they edited my answer that I got an email, which alerted me to the problem.
If you look at the other forums, the "question / answer / clarify / respond" cycle is the norm - I think we need something like this for Quick Answers too. (Ignoring the fact posting an answer that is a request still counts as an answer toward your reputation...)You should never use standby on an elephant. It always crashes when you lift the ears. - Mark Wallace

I too was about to post on this line.
At times the questions aren't clear. Looks like posting a message at the bottom of the question page isn't sufficient. Posting query in response to ask what n why in answers section doesnt sound good.
There should be a channel to inform enquirer to update question with more detail without asking it via answers.
|
|
|
|
|
This is a popular request and it's a priority for us. We'll be implementing a small comments section beneath each answer, including the question. When a comment is made the author of the question or answer will be notified.

|
Sounds good!
Looking forward for the feature!
