Another suggestion: Move the Sign out link to the member name dropdown menu, and merge that into the main green bar, perhaps just after 'Home'. Then you could move the "n members and growing" text into an ALT tag for the logo, or for the Home entry.
With something similar to that, you could eliminate the need for the white bar at the top of the site.

If the Lounge link moved down to the search bar (still at the right), this would be better.

if the whole menu bar moved to where the search bar is now, that would save us hundred yards of mouse traveling a day.

I'm torn between saving the world tens of thousands of little mouse movements in order to aid productivity, and saving the world a few lounge visits, thereby possibly saving even more productivity

Ah. The dilemma's you must be facing on a daily base.
However this time you could have it all: move the menu bar down, put the Lounge link there too, and make it optional for people not wanting to be distracted by it.
BTW: all the "My XYZ" stuff really could also be a simple menu bar dropdown, with the obvious text "Me". So it would be: Home, Articles, Questions, Learning, Jobs, Features, Lounge, Me, Help (see, I don't like multi-word menu heads).

Like this[^] ?
Well, If I remember correctly, that menu used to be just above the search bar.

Dear Codeproject Moderators/Administrators,
I have been here for a long time and frankly I have been benifitted a lot. Thanks a ton to Codeproject.
So many wonderful feature and nice articles and along with outstanding forums on different programming topic. Off late I have started with .NET compact Framework APIs to develop application for windows mobile device.
However, I found there is no dedicated forum for discussing .NET CF. Can we have a dedicated forum for .NET CF please where we should be able to discuss issues/problems for .NET Compact Framwerk and (and Sql Server Compact Framwork)?
Have a nice day.
Thanks,
Arindam D Tewary

I found that posting 1st comment to an answer gives you 1 participant reputation point but consecutive comments on the same answer does not give you any reputation point.
Is this intentional/as designed?
If so, I think, any comment posted should be awarded 1 rep point instead of just first.
If not, then there is a bug!
|
|
|
|
|
Doesn't look like that's what's happening. Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing. You mean clicking the 'Add Comment' button for a QA answer post correct? If so can you show me where you've noticed this?

I find it remarkable that you are following the rep scores at so fine a level
On the other hand, you have replied with some really good answers. Whenever I've seen one, I've inevitably voted it a 5. So good stuff there, man!

Yep I do follow them at times, though this was accidental...

Thanks I'll create a bug report for it.

You don't get points for comments to your own Questions or Answers. You've already gotten credit for the Question or Answer, and further comments from you are assumed to be clarifications of Question or Answer.
|
|
|
|
|
Based on the Forum layout of Programming questions, every discussion is given a point (the ones that are clarifying answer even that). Assuming the same thing, looks to me that same consistency should be there in Q&A.
|
|
|
|
|
Yes, there is inconsistency and this will be changed.

I was reading this article(A Style for Round Glassy WPF Buttons[^]) and then I thought to click on 'Style' at the end of site index to get rest of other similar articles.
And it redirected the browser to
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/#Styles[^]
But there is no 'Styles' named anchor to get the focus. Instead, 'Windows Presentation Foundation - Styles' exists. So the correct url is
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/#Windows Presentation Foundation - Styles
NOTE : Another bug, create link button doesn't work with above url, because it contains space.

When browsing Articles list, its very annoying that the blue color(unedited articles) changes to light orange just to show Bookmark icon. However changing color distracts too much. So please do not change color on hover, or if you really want to, change it to light blue or something similar to respective color. Its very annoying when your cursor is in the middle of screen and you are using scroll wheel.

I didn't see this in current bug list. Deleted Tip/Tricks are also showing in Needing Approval section of home page with message - Sorry, this tip/trick has been deleted.

Probably Caching issue...did you tried Cntrl+F5?
Check the server name at the bottom... like Web22... or so. Track it.

I don't think the deleted Tip/Trick is listed due to Cache problem.

Why we need to track it?I think you are misunderstood.

Arun Jacob wrote: Why we need to track it
By track it i meant that see what value is it on postback/refresh of the page. Other servers might not be updated instantly about the deletion or so.
Though Chris might confirm it.

no matter how many times the "logout" link is clicked. This is a serious problem (for example, logged on while using a public computer, then everyone using this computer can access your account ).

This happens to DD a lot. While he's down the pub on a Friday night someone gains access his account and posts drivel in the lounge.
