Well I'v been countering the vote's you get.
My vote of 5 against ??? vote of 1 gives you a 3.67 so it averages out a bit

What's worse than the trolling are the accusations and assumptions that are arbitrarily thrown around. Yesterday someone assumed a nice polite member of being the troll, I had to interfere and clarify things up for people to leave him alone. Let's face it. Except for Chris (and other CP admins), we can only make guesses. So maybe it's best to keep any suspicions to ourselves.

That's why I'm asking Chris (or other admin) to have a word with them in private - they have the logs. If the person has been around for a while, I'd hope that a days foolishness could be overcome with a gentle prod rather than the nuclear option of a ban being touted. As I said in the lounge, they can downvote me all they like - I have a big enough reputation not to be worried about it; some of the people who've been targeted have less of a reputation cover. If they must target somebody, then take it out on me.

I don't really care much about the reputation points so let them down vote me as much as they want, it doesn't work anyway since more often than not a member with at least equal weight in voting comes along and balances the vote out.
So in fact the down-voters are really giving you more reputation points
In the past 4,5 years I'v been a member here I'v had one rule:
If I don't have anything meaningful / funny to say I say nothing at all and just move on.
Seems to work pretty well so I think I'll stick to it (only down side is that the reputation doesn't go up as fast)

Come on now, that was me jokingly accusing you of being the troll, and now you want everybody to think that you're a nice polite member???

An option like member can Down-vote only if he has >=500 points. I hope it will help us to restrict uni-voters.

I did a search for "Serialisation vb.net" in Articles, to see if there was anything i could point to following a question in one of the forms.
The system return this article;
Using Serialization to Persist TreeView Control (VB.NET)[^]
I clicked the article, and it highlighted the instances of the search term.
as i scroll down the article, and move my mouse down it, as the mouse hovers over the various paragraphs, sections etc. huge chunks of text become underlined. As the mouse leaves the regions, they return to normal.

I cannot solve the puzzle presented by the 'Build Coding puzzles in C#, Visual Basic, and F#[^]' link in The Insider today.
It's because you used the vb words, isn't it? You should have known they can break anything.

It appears that the reputation frame can't resolve - at least that's true for everyone I checked
Remember in November:
But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security.

...for members who have signed up nearly a decade ago and haven't made a single post. Is it really that necessary?
I know i have a personal interest at heart in posting this, but i still wonder.
I can understand it for regulars and for those who have made a post or two, but the accidental name squatters should maybe lose protected status after a whole year with 0 total posts
I should be able to create a similar name that's not identical to the squatted name, but one which would normally be thrown out by the filter.
I had thought of also sharing some of the "holes" in the system, but a troll might get a hold of my ideas and observations, so i won't.
P.S. I'm a former regular here, so i've known this site for a number of years, on and off... even though my account is quite recent. Big thanks to Chris and all of the staff here at CP. Love you guys

I was thinking about this on the weekend and was actually thinking about changing the rules a little.
Instead of forcing a unique name, I could make it "first in, best dressed" and make it that if you have picked a name, have a confirmed email, and have posted, then you get your name. If, however, you come in after that, or don't have a confirmed email (or whatever else) then you can still post using that name but your name will be dimmed (and possibly, confirmed names will be highlighted).
It would help solve this issue...
(and we love you too).

Wow, Thanks!
Really appreciate that
Whenever the change comes, I will be the first to make use of it, undoubtedly. I'm kind of tired of the trailing 0 in my name showing up when i'm quoted...
I know that you have more urgent bugs to take care of, so I don't mean to make a big deal of this.. simply wanted to make my situation known
P.S. My namesake from Italy has been registered since '03... someone who wandered in, downloaded a file, and left, never to return.

Do you have any rules in the system whereby if someone has no activity in their account for 6 months, they are notified, the account will be terminated unless they reactive via a link or by signing in, similar to other forum software.
