I agree, and this shouldn't be too hard to implement since you must be logged in to download files.

You are right, and it is fixed already.
Will be available after next deploy.

Got a couple 'service unavailable' error messages.

Hope you carried out a manual handling assessment then! Running around with heavy things on such a small area isn't very safe you know!

Hi,
It seems to me that I'm being awarded reputation points twice for each file attached to an article that I download. For example, from my reputation history:
4 May 2011 11:21 AM | Download source or demo file | Organiser | Object Associated File | 2 | 4 May 2011 11:21 AM | Download source or demo file | Organiser | Object Associated File | 2 | 4 May 2011 11:20 AM | Vote article up | Organiser | Article Write your own Debugger to handle Breakpoints | 1 |
I rated the article[^], and then downloaded the single source file associated with it. And yet there are two entries awarding me points. Same thing for other articles, when I downloaded 2 files I get four points entries, etc.

Thanks - we'll look into this and see what's happening.

Hi,
Can it be the case that you downloaded the same file more than once?
(I just tried it myself, and when i download a file once, i get points once,
but when I am downloading the same file again, I get another 2 points)
Sincerely,
Elina

It's possible that the cause is related to that somehow. I certainly don't download the same file twice, but perhaps when I right-click the link to the file, and select "Save Link As" (Firefox 4) then two HTTP GET/HEAD requests are sent for some reason. The FlashGot Firefox add-on is also installed, and perhaps that is interfering in some way.
In any case, if you don't feel this is a problem then please disregard my post

Hi,
I asked because I wanted to know, what is the reason for the problem.
The case you described is interesting, and it may be the reason for 2
requests at the same time. But I think, it is fixed already and
will be deployed to live soon. We will also take care of existing duplicate entries.
And thank you for the reporting.
Sincerely,
Elina

This is an absurd request.

In my opinion, it is an extremely disrespectful gesture and is not in keeping with the site ethos.

But they didn't violate any rules by doing so. There's no reason to disable the account. No, I don't think it should have happened, but it's not like they voted and then taunted the OP. It could also have been a "That really sucks" kind of vote, referring to Ray's passing instead of the presence of the post itself.

I see it as breaking the 'no abusive conduct' rule at the top of the Lounge. An unlikely to be granted request, yes, but not an absurd one.

It's not "abusive conduct".
"Abusive conduct" would be as I described earlier, or 1-voting a number someone's posts because you just feel like it, or posting spam on the site. A single one vote does not qualify as "abusive conduct".

I agree.
It may have been good if that post had no votes at all. But since we cannot have vote-disabled threads, people should be able to vote whatever they want to.

It is an all-5 post at the moment.
Either someone changed their vote or Chris removed the down vote.
Either way, what's the big deal? The OP does not care, and nothing's affected. I did not vote and personally I think it's kinda weird that dozens of people voted that a 5. That post should not have been voted on, voting on it (whether 1 or 5) is disrespectful in my opinion. But then it's my opinion!

Then my post had the desired effect.

For some reason that thread affected me more than it normally would have yesterday.

And an opinion we didn't ask for, so bugger off!

Not me, and not something I do unless it's from an account that has gone on a malcious voting spree.
