When I did a search of forum messages, I selected one of the results which happened to be on page 24052 (from sometime in the year 2001). EVERY time I try to go to that message (or even just that page) I get the message that there's a heavy load and to try again.
Seems to me that it's broken.

Yeah, this is a known bug. If a message is old enough, you can't reach it. Very annoying and hopefully they are working on fixing it.

Well, at the least the message could say, "No can do. Why don't you go have some bacon and try again later?"

Finally, a sensible suggestion

Add that to the enhancement list. Instead of 'servers are busy' how about 'hamsters are eating bacon'?

Should there maybe be a rationale requested once someone tries to downvote questions from the same user consecutively? ..let's say if a user goes and downvotes 2 or 3 answers from me back to back, then on the third try, have it ask why and show his rationale.
I seem to attract stalking univoters from time-to-time, latest doesn't have much impact (-2), but the variety of subjects that he's downvoting (C++, Qt, and MFC) and the time between downvotes (2 minutes between each) lead me to believe its the same person. Also, the 3 posts downvoted are the last three things I had answered, so they're right next to one another if you look at my Q&A answers (reinforcing the theory that someone just looked at that list and downvoted).
...Or maybe we should allow users to block others from being able to see where we've posted so that this irrational behavior is not as easy.

Join the club, I often get runs of 1's.
(to be fair, sometimes deservedly so).

Yeah but why not control the runs... I mean, I don't mind if its deserved... but for people to do it out of spite is just foolish.

What? Stuff a cork up your bottom. That should help stem the flow.

There are two reasons for this happening:
0. You are being a twit.
1. The voter is being a twit.
At the end of the day your rep isn't hurt by one or two people troll voting, a member is limited on their ability to down-vote, but if YOU start to iss poff the majority, see FB, then you'll get flame-grilled.
I try not to vote down unless it is abusive - then I'll vote remove - or really stupid.

I got in trouble here the last time I commented on someone complaining about 1 votes.
All I can say is get used to it...really. We all get the case of the runny 1 votes. It happens. It is usually caused by coming in contact with Troll feces.
There really isn't anything that can be done about it. If it becomes a daily issue then call a doctor and drink plenty of water.

Only because someone chose not to do anything about it... the site's tracking enough information already to see if someone is downvoting the same person. Its not exactly technically impossible.
...but I'll live with it either way...

After having solicited the opinion of the CP members it is clear there is a majority in favour of
re-enabling fat_boy.
3.06/5 (12 votes)[^]
2.54/5 (45 votes)[^]
Clearly, as offensive as he can be to some, he obviously provides sufficient amusement and interest to the majority.
Now, knowing the administrators of CP to be a democratic bunch they should listen to the majority voice and bring fat_boy back.
