Maybe its me but I kinda miss having the php forum. Everytime I come back to CP, I feel like I just got back to my hometown after being away to find out that the house I grew up in was torn down...kind of a bummer

I like to see the members last CP visit (e.g. in his member page). Any privacy concerns?

Why would you want to see when they last visited? Also, what do you mean by last visited? Are you talking about last activity? Last time they logged in?
|
|
|
|
|
The last they logged in. Similar to the seen value on the StackOverflow's user profile.

Bad idea. No need for big brother type stuff on CP. If I want people to know I have been here I will post something.

That is correct, which is why I wrote : "If I want people to know I have been here I will post something."

You're right, but indicating the last visit with a post is not really natural.

I can see it as well.
I see "closed by Report of .... (Several people here, who reported it)"
Links are still active (not only the ones of the article, the intern CP-Links like bookmark and so on as well).

Yep, it seems that Free Tools and The Insider only appear in Web01 & Web02.

While reading the QuickAnswers forum a little earlier, I changed the layout from fixed to fluid. This was the first time I have done this.
Now I notice that after changing the layout back to fixed, that the column showing when the thread was last posted to or updated is truncated.
That is to say, the column only displays the first 8 or 9 characters of the time string.
If the thread has been posted, it's 8 chars. If it's been updated, it's 9 chars.
A thread posted a minute ago looks like this "posted 1", while a thread updated a minute ago looks like this "updated 1". Similarly a thread posted 14 hours ago reports "posted 1", likewise, a thread updated 14 hours ago reports "updated 1"
I've checked the underlying html - the full time string is present, it's just not displayed correctly.
System: Win7 Home Premium, Chrome 17.0.963.79
I just checked the site using IETab in Chrome - the page displays as expected. However, reverting back to a native Chrome tab ensures that the truncation continues.
I guess this is most likely a browser issue, rather than a site one.(?)

Do you have your Chrome browser zoomed at all? (Ctrl-0 - that's a zero - will reset the zoom)

Nope, afraid not sir.
Though, this is where things get really interesting..
At no zoom (ctrl 0), the page displays as described.
At +1 zoom (ctrl 0, followed by ctrl +), I see "updated 2hr" "posted 3hr" - also if the time is 2 digits, then I see 1/2 of the first letter - i.e "updated 13" and 1/2 of the 'h' in hours.
At -1 zoom (strl 0, followed by ctrl -), I see "updated 2" and 1/2 of the 'h'. However if the time is 2 digits, then I just see up to and including the number.
I recorded a quick flash video demonstrating the behaviour. I should note that the apparent delay in loading the page is due to the two messages inserted. This was quicker than the blink of an eye and I wouldn't have seen it if I weren't stepping through frame-by-frame.
(zipped)Video here: http://www.mediafire.com/?8i3cmyjqh3tbl53[^]
EDIT: Just discovered this bug is somewhat selective.. I notice that the effect can depend on both which tab I have selected AND which page I'm viewing.

Thank you so much for taking the time to create the video. Awesome.
My only thought is: what's your screen resolution set at? Have you increased the font size at all?
I doubt this is actually the case since you say it works fine in IE (well, IETab).
In the video there's a pause between the page loading and the right-hand column of the page loading. Is that pause very long?
I've tried adding really long question subjects, long member names, everything, but cannot get this to replicate on my system. If you're truly bored then one thing you could try is hitting F12 to bring up developer tools, click the magnifying glass at the bottom left of the tools window, then hover over the elements on the QA page to see if any one of them is pushing any of the others out of the way.
Also, an option is to save the page to a file, open up in Chrome, see if the problem persists in the offline version, and if it does then email me at chris at codeproject.com.
I'm scratching my head.
(Off-topic: Are you in Melbourne? Heard the storms were pretty nasty the other day...)

It's a pleasure. Got shown InstantDemo a few years back and have loved it ever since. In fact, all of the best OllyDbg tutes are done using it.
Screen Resolution? 1366x768 on this laptop. The problem persists when I connect to a 1920x1080 monitor via HDMI. Font-size? Not sure, I've never touched it.
Yup, (live) pages work just fine in: FireFox 3.6.4, IE 8.0.7600.16384 64 bit, Chrome 17.0.963.83 m (incognito mode)
BBB U T - the page will fail in each of the browsers if I log-in. If I'm not logged in, the page looks just fine...
Nope, the delay between the content and the sidebar loading is practically unnoticeable - it's 120ms.
Yeah, it sure has got me buggered! So far, I've just been using the dev tools in chrome to either (a) change .container-content max-width from 1040px to 1200px or (b) just delete the whole ctl00_ctl00_MC_NavRight div and it's contents.
Just tried the magnifying-glass trick - here are the sizes it reports:
td.posted.align-right = 158px x 43px
td.posted = 76px x 43px
div#ctl00_ctl00_MC_NavRight.text-sidebar.question = 318px x 1177px
** I note that ~80% of td.posted is obscured by the sidebar. **
Sorry to say, I've saved a copy of the page and tried it in the three browsers mentioned above - , and
I think I'll have to send it to you
Off topic:
Yup sure am. It seems to be the time of year for it right now. Nearly got the car wrecked by hail at Moomba a few years back (parked at Ballet center, best $13 I ever spent)
And just two weeks ago had a leak in the roof that was pouring water in so fast that I collected 32.3 liters in just under 10 hours.
Luckily the roof was fixed the following day, since the storms the other day were brutal. I enjoy the great-outdoors as much as the next person, though I sure wasn't unhappy to be programming at the time..
