Considering it's lineage, of course CP has bugs. Big, black, hairy scary ones that carry off livestock

Couldn't say whether this is it in your case or not, but a long-standing issue with CP is that if you get a link to a post by just copying it out of the address bar (instead of using the "get link" link), the link will also contain the view settings in effect, thus changing them for anyone who clicks on the link.

Damn, it happened again and it was not a link to a message. Just clicking on the "Lounge" link top-right and bang - there it goes.

have they always been there?
i've noticed recently that i'll click a message, it will load, then the whole page will shift up a few lines (60 pixels or so). i think it's caused by the bottom banner loading slowly. IE draws the text, then loads the bottom banner and shifts the page up to make room. .. does that make sense?
on second thought... looks like it's the top banner causing the problem. IE allocates a lot of room for it, the banner never arrives, so IE reclaims the space, shifting the entire page up.

Yes they have, though I have been getting this special cream on prescription which makes it easier to sit down. It's really embarassing when one of those "Come back to AOL for FREE" ads flashes on - no one likes to see an ugly ginger bird pressed firmly between their buttocks, and that thing she does with her hands is just disgusting. And don't get me started on the musical multimedia ones!

Sounds like a side effect of the ads database being down whilst Dave C. attends to it with a toothbrush.

For awhile now I (and many of the programmers on my team) have used this site for help and hints with many of our projects. We work on government contracts and are dictated very specific requirements, most importantly we MUST use VC++. C# has not made its way into our little world down here. Because of this CodeProject has become basically useless to us. There are very few (almost none) postings NOT having to do with C#. It'll be missed...

Take a look at our site map[^]. I may be going out on a limb here but I can't see how 2,500 articles on C++ renders a site useless to C++ devs.

Count the ones labeled 'C#' or 'something.NET' Then count the ones labeled 'C++' or 'MFC'

I guess CP can only publish what is submitted. C# is in the in-thing. People want to learn about it, there is so much new to know so it is easier to write an original article.
There are still some hard-core C++ players here, who still write an occasional article. I suspect we may see a rise in C++ articles again when VS.NET 2003 is published with its more standard compliant compiler.

There are lots and lots of MFC/C++ articles on CP. But obviously the majority of the newer articles will be .NET related because thats the in-thing nowadays. Also, most of the MFC topics have alreday been covered and .NET being a wider area will have more topics for article authors. Your complaint is similar to using Pentium IIs and then saying none of the shops are selling P-IIs and that all the shops only sell P-IVs. The IT industry changes at a rapid pace and CodeProject has to catch up. Otherwise it will have to shut down and vanish. Remember that CP is not Government funded. The people who run CP need to keep up with the latest MS technologies if they are to survive. And also we shouldnt take CP for granted all the time.

I didn't get very much sleep, so I'm not sure if it's a bug, but all those messages by tomkat showing on the 14th? And none of them have their main messages displayed...very weird. I've got a screen capture of it if you can't reproduce it.
