And there you have the reason voting is at the bottom of the article: To get to the voting UI, you need to have at least scrolled down. This prevents people just voting articles they've just opened, hopefully they'll have gone to the lengths of actually reading the thing they've vote for, but I've seen at least one where article where this clearly wasn't the case.

Uhmmm... The voting thingy was moved to the top of the article not too long ago. I was trying to find the announcement Chris made about it so I could link to it, but it could have been in one of the Newsletters.

I agree, voting button at top usually would increase no. of instances and probability where people votes without reading the article.

I know the obvious workaround/short cut key to scroll to top.
But... According to me, keeping voting button at bottom makes more sense.

Can we have a private page or post to save things like some reminders^, templates*, notes^, etc.,? Please
I checked blog(in profile page) but there's no option to save a post in private mode.

Already[^] you suggested that Richard, thanks again. But still I didn't download VC++ express. My current laptop is dying....
And reason for this thread is utilities like yours are only possible at home. When I'm not home, I need alternative way for these things, so ....

Yes but I think it's not suitable for "frequent updating things".

We could, but I'll be honest and say it would be so far down my priorities at the moment to not want to recommend holding your breath.

[EDIT]
It seems not being related to underscores but to some length calculation based on the selected text while pasting...
[/EDIT]
When pasting a link that contains underscores works fine if no text is pre-selected in the editor.
But if you have a text pre-selected in the editor and than paste the copied link, the link gets cut off after the underscore.
This leads to undesired wrong references.
E.g. I had "Syntactic Sugar" selected in the editor and pasted the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syntactic_sugar .
The resulting link got
http: instead of
http:
This is a bit annoying since such cut off links usually go undetected into the posts.

Same here with a link I posted in an answer to a question in Q&A:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short-circuit_evaluation[^]
The "evaluation" part after the underscored gets cut off.
The following was the link I posted:
http:
[Modified]Here the link insertion seems to have worked correctly.[/Modified]
Cheers!

If you first enter the text, like Short Circuit Evaluation , then select that text and only then paste the copied link, the part *after* the underscore gets cut off. E.g. Short Circuit Evaluation[^].
Oh, I just noticed that the suspicion that it has to do with underscore is wrong! It seems to be some length calculation based on the selected text. See the link: it is cut like this:
http: instead of the full link
http:

I have already reported that, like, months ago, and Chris put it on the "CheckWhatReallyHappensAndFixIt" list, which is to be addressed after all items on the "ToDoListOfImportantThings" are done.

Thanks for your info. Did not see any of these lists, though
As long as I know how to workaround (I know: don't paste a link while text is selected and/or double-check the link after pasting), I'm fine if it never gets fixed...

Besides. The Survey "started" last week but the comments are from year 2000
I guess someone or something changed those start and end dates

Check it out now. Voting has been extended: 31 Dec 2013 to 31 Dec 2020

I have edited the article to fix the link to the download file (there is really only one associated with this article).
